How do you do a 360 on mx vs atv ?

In game or in the main menu(not sure) there should be Options, hit that and look for "Cheat codes" hope you find it. Here have this.

I guess it's as easy as pressing A or Start.

But if the controller really isn't connected anyways, you have to:

1: Turn on controller, and hold the sync button ( just to the right of the Left Bumper ).

2: Press the Sync button on the Xbox 360
> Slim version: Sync button is placed just beside the usbports on the front of the xbox.
> Original version: The sync button is placed just beside Memory Slot B ( looks pretty much as the one on the xbox controller.

3: The controller should connect and sync automaticly to your Xbox 360.

I can't find it on either Xbox Live Marketplace, nor as a cheatcode, so I guess if it is a DLC (DownLoadable Content), it was probably for pre-order-only.

You can unlock all the machines with the LEADFOOT code, or unlock everything in the game with the TOOLAZY code.

I had this same problem with my 360 controller (after modding it, but the solution should be the same..) If you pull up on any 360 joystick it will stick the same way.

The quickest fix would be to take some sandpaper on the inside of where the joystick touches the controller shell, sand it down just enough so the joystick is moving smoothly.

More professional ways would be to cut the little piece of metal that sticks out and goes into the joystick. Just a very small amount, too much will make it hard to press the right thumbstick button.
You could also try some old fashioned grease, just a little bit on the inside, nothing noticeable from the outside.

Also make sure the controller is put back together right, I've taken apart many 360 controllers and sometimes joysticks stick when there's a wire in the wrong place and the shell won't close all the way. (The rumble motors particularly).
