No Water in Ice Maker

I'm a complete newbie. I don't really know much about the workings of my icemaker, but I do know that it isn't working, but the water dispenser in the door works fine. It doesn't look like any water is getting into the tray. I just recenly replaced the filter. I did flush the water dispenser for 5 minutes after installing the filter, as recommended on the packaging, but the icemaker stopped working shortly after changing the filter. Is the line clogged? Is it merely frozen (as I saw mentioned in another thread)? How do I check, or should I just call a repair person? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks! Doug

I have an inline water filter to the fridge and changed the cartridge in it about 2 months ago. This past week the water coming out of the fridge has a distinct odor and I don't know why. Could there be something wrong in the water storage tank in the fridge where the water is cooled for drinking. How do I disassemble the storage tank to flush it out?

Before u call a repair man i would unplug the fridge for 12 hours about depending on weather to let ur line unfreeze if thats the problem the dispenser in the door and the one to the icemaker are two different lines so just because the door works with water dispensing doesnt mean the freezer line isnt froze over

MY ICEMAKER HAS STOPPED HOW DO I KNOW IF IT IS COMPLETELY BROKEN AND WHAT CAN IT DO TO GET THE ICEMAKER WORKING AGAIN.

There are many problems that will prevent the ice maker from working. It could be frozen over, the inlet water valve could be inoperable, the harvest thermostat may be bad. If you can remove the ice maker, you might be able to tell what might be the problem.

My icemaker stopped working but the water on the door still works what can the problem be model number 106.51552104

02fd7a9b-9a65-43a6-ae76-6bf68d211304.jpgThanks for the model number. If the ice slots inside the ice maker are empty try pouring tap water in and allow the water to freeze. If after the water freezes the ice drops into the ice bucket and the ice maker does not refill this would indicate that the side of the=> W10408179 Water Inlet Valve is defective on the side that controls ice maker water supply. If the ice maker just sits there and does nothing this would point to a defective ice maker. Depending what is wrong with the ice maker will determine what parts are replaced. Here is a list of those parts here=> Kenmore Refrigerator Model 106.51552104 Ice Maker Parts and if need you may be able to find a complete ice maker replacement by asking. Most people don't like replacing ice maker parts. I am here should you have questions or comments, Sea Breeze

I had the power out on my refrig for about 8 hours. Now the ice maker has stopped making ice. Water in the door works, but no water going to the ice maker and not dropping ice. Do I need to defrost the...

There is a dual acting water valve that feeds the ice maker and door water seperately.
If your power went out - chances are good the solenoid on the icemaker side of the valve has failed - so it will not open the valve on the demand of the icemaker timer.
To find out - you will need to check that there is voltage at the valve.

With a model #, I can help you better.

Thanks!!

Icemaker not getting water

The water valve is a double valve and one side is for the water dispensor and the other side is for the ice maker. if you know the ice maker is cycle is completing the water valve could be bad. Also make sure the water fill tube is not frozen. if it is, the water valve is bad and the tube will need to be defrosted.

It is not common that a ice maker that cycles will not send the power to the water valve. It could happen but is not common.

Icemaker quit working but water side works still.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.
Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it’s frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start.
If it does dump the ice but don’t refill with water.

Ice maker not producing ice. Tried everything in the Troubleshooting section of Users Manual. Replaced water filter. The front water dispenser is working.

the most likely thing would be a bad water valve.try to reset the ice maker and watch to see if the tray fills up the fill tube could also be blocked with frozen water.the last thing is simply a bad ice maker.
