Question about Sanyo VHR-5431 VHS VCR

5 Answers

No remote or manual.

I can't get the basic setup done because I don't have the manual or the original remote. Is it possible using an universal remote, or what?

    Hi all,

I have a problem with a recently bought second-hand Sanyo VCR. It's the VHR-VK310A model and my problem is that I have no remote or user manual. Can anyone help me with suggestions on how to get hold of either of these -- or even where I can read/download a users manual on line.

    Cheers,

    Tom.

So we're basically screwed when the recording speed is stuck on SP? We can't change it??

I have a Sanyo VCR and just bought a universal remote, hoping that I'd be able to access some kind of menu to change the recording speed. I can't get it to change the speed, though.

Is there any hope for me?

The original replacement remote is not a cheap thing, as you will see here, http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&smodel=VHR5431&brand_pn=SANYO_VHR5431&mode=large&uid=11743681600310 The universal remotes will not do any programming or special effects that you may need for the functions of this unit. Good Luck.

You could: phone 1-800-294-3889 or email: [email protected] adventure and ask - they should still have original remotes in stock for your model. no real solution, but yes, if you could find the codes then it should be fine with a universal. Had no luck with a manual, although the link below is for a VHR-531 which may be similar and could help, but no remote codes unfortunately; http://sanyoservice.com/pdf/images/VHR-H531(0M5310281).pdf If you have no luck with this then please post again and we can try again to find the codes Hope this helps :)

How to get unit to play without remote

You can probably use the front panel buttons (STOP PLAY OPEN/CLOSE etc) manually, the only thing you cannot do without the remote is access certain DVD menus, including subtitles/language/special features etc. You can always obtain and use a universal remote for basic menu functions later on if necessary.

To play a DVD movie without the remote, simply load your preferred disc, wait for the player to finish reading its contents, then to skip copyright warnings and/or the 'play movie' menu screen, press STOP, then PLAY, or simply press PLAY button where 'play movie' (or whatever function) is highlighted in the menu. These buttons should be on the front of the main unit. Doing this should encourage the player to detect the appropriate title (the movie) and play it (basic playback operation may not be possible with some DVD releases due to the numerous interactive menus and title pages, such as film trailers).

If basic manual operation is not completely possible with some DVD titles, consider a universal remote for your player if you have either lost your original, or the player was purchased/received without one. Such remotes are relatively inexpensive to purchase, and are available just about everywhere.

Initial setup using universal remote

Sorry,

You might have to use the menu button on the T.V. itself (if it has one). I have issues also with my Comcast remote in that they will do just very basic functions. The only other option I can provide as a solution would be to try an electronics retailer such as your local radio shack, best buy, frys, etc. Not much else can be done with the Comcast remote unfortunately.

I have a dvd magnavox i lost the original remote control is it possible that i can replace it with a universal remote control?

IT IS possible that the universal will work but the universal will only do the basics. no menu or subtitles or anything like that. your best option is to purchase the original remote control. You can do this by typing in the model number of the DVD player in the search at ReplacementRemotes.com and if they have it it will show up. and you may be a be able to purchase the OEM remote.
