Replace the screen inverter!

u have bad lower buffer board

you have a bad Y Sustain board or X Sustain board
undo the back (if you know how to deal with electronics) and with the TV unplugged disconnect one of the board and turn on, see if works or not and try with the other one till find out wich one is.

This is not a user repairable problem.

You need to take it for a professional repair. The good thing is that this is an all mechanical SLR and was designed so that repairs are usually straightforward. Spares are no longer available, but so many of these cameras were sold and are still in use today that many repairers have a few scrap examples which they can cannibalise when needed.

Given that you can buy a perfectly good used K1000 at online auction sites for between £30-£40 it may not seem like an economical repair, but newly serviced ones with a guarantee sell for over £100 so it's definitely worth it for such a superb classic SLR.

try replacing the video card. if the video card is working just fine then try replacing your monitor

I had the same issue. I could get the tv to work intermittantly by pressing on the boards while playing. This points to bad solder joint, so I resoldered every molex plug connector, and it nows works like a charm.

if it looks like its perfectly in half, it would have to be the light engine. common failure is usually half black, half good.

The half picture is a verticale problem. This is difficult to repair. Send to a repair shop.
