REDDY HEATER 125T WON'T INGNITE

I HAVE A REDDY HEATER MODEL 125T THAT WON'T IGNITE. THE IGNITOR WAS BAD AND THE FUSE WAS BLOWN, REPLACED BOTH WITH PROPER NEW PARTS. WHEN TURNED ON THE FAN RUNS AND IT SHOOTS FUEL FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND THEN QUITS. ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS FOR ME?

    I have a Reddy Heater 125T. When I turn the unit on it sprays fuel and the fan runs for about 10 seconds and then the unit shuts down. It has the ignition type starter not a plug. I have turned the thermostat all the way up as it suggests when firing it up. If I turn the thermostat down it will not try to run. So I am guessing that means the thermostat is working. I bought the unit used yesterday from someone that bought it new and never used it. It is missing the paperwork and the front plastic handles. It had never had fuel in the tank when I bought it. It is multi-fuel capable and I put diesil in the tank. Any help would be appreciated.

    I have the same problem. The unit was working fine I was burning kerosine in it and then I switched it to diesel and it won't ignite

    Hello, I have been using my brother-in-laws 125T for a few weeks burning diesel. I filled it with kerosene and it worked a few cycles but it won't restart after it hits the temp the thermostat is set at. I shut the switch off to reset. It starts and runs for a little bit then shuts off. Even with the thermostat set at 5. Every time I restart it (toggle the switch on and off) the run time gets shorter. Anyone have a solution?

  1. Does the ignitor glow for 5 seconds when the unit is started?
  2. What is the air pump pressure reading?
These are the starting points for troubleshooting a heater that has an ingntor.

Answer these questions and maybe someone can get you started.

Fuel filter is clean and the nozzle is open but no fuel to it, where do I find the pump if that is the problem? when turn on the fan will start for a second and then it shuts down.

take off the top cover, theres an optical eye that needs cleaning some times. while u r there clean or replace the spark plug . if that doesnt do it check for spark from the coil . these r the only things that go bad on them

Reddy Heater R50A will not ignite
yep.plug the unit in and look in the back of unit.should see an orange glow.if you don't the glow bar is not comming on

Reddy Heater 125t won't restart on its own after first cycle.
Sounds like a bad thermostat! (A common problem with this model) replace and it should work again!

RH125T won't fire
Not much to check. The element comes out and makes a square loop back to the ceramic portion. This element is extremely brittle and will break if touched or wiped off.

You can check the 2 wires with a voltage tester set on continuity. The needle should swap sides if the ignitor is intact. I don't ever remember an ignitor failing, except for breakage.

View this page. Be sure you get the correct ignitor. 2 different ones have been used on the RH125T.

Won't light
Are the ignitors intact? In other words, does the element make a loop back to the ceramic portion. The purpose of the LED is to notify the user of a defective ignitor. The other possibility is a bad control board.

If the ignitor is intact, but no power coming from the board (ignitor only glows for 5 seconds), then the board is bad or the fuse is blown. You might want to test the photocell while you are at it.

You will need to locate the correct model numbers to order the correct parts. "170T" & "125T" are only part of the correct model designation.

Won't light
My suggestion would be to clean the nozzle and the fuel lines. Make sure after they are clean you have a good mist from the nozzle.

i have a 125t reddy heater the other day while it was running the digital read out started climbing rapidly and i smelled something like burnt wire coming from the heater. so i shut the heater down for a few minutes and then tried to restart it. now the ignitor light flashes and the heater doesn't work anymore. any help would be great thanks

Reddy Heater won't self start after first cycle. I have a Reddy Heater 125T that starts great. It runs until it gets to the desired tempiture and then shuts itself off. The problem is that it won't restart itself when the tempiture drops unless I turn the power off and back on. Once I turn the power off and on again it starts up and runs great. Does anyone have any ideas?
