My machine starts grinding then comes back saying "coffee beans empty". It also has a faint smell like something burning. Is there some maintenance that should be done on the grinder or anywhere else that may affect this part of the process?
Thank you
Try changing the beans to a different brand I had this same problem with the brands that were around $30 a kilo but not with the cheaper ones. They seem to clump together and not drop in to feed the grinder. It could be that you just need to adjust either the internal or external grinder settings also.

Turn the big knob in the bean hopper to the largest #. If it works, on the second try turn the knob back down to a #, higher that you had before, but only turn the knob when it is grinding.
Could Be one of 2 things, the grind is set too fine and the beans are not getting to the millstones, or there is something blocking the chute for the grounds.
Open the bean chamber and vac out the coffee, then adjust grind to about 2 numbers coarser then try, if the smell is still there then you will have to clean out the grinder chamber by disassembling, and removing the object causing the smell.
Hi More than likely your grind is to fine. Push the lever back 1 # larger(Higher #). If you want stronger coffee, push the doser lever on the door to the back then pull forward 1 click.
in the self test does it flush the unit ?
If not you have to prime the unit by allowing it to pump hot water through the frothing valve. Open the valve and the pump should pulse water out. After this the machine should indicate it is in the operating mode for coffee
