Question about Panasonic QA125K29CAU6 Refrig Compressor, blk Pk Qty 20

1 Answer

This compressor is in my aquarium water chiller. When I plug in the chiller, The compressor starts then goes off. a few seconds later it starts again then goes off. It continues to do this. I have changed out all electrical components on the side of the compressor with no change. What else could be wrong? Could it be pressure or Freon or has the compressor just gone bad?

The Freon is probably a bit low. When the compressor draws from the low side the extreme low pressure trips the low pressure switch, shutting down the compressor. With compressor off the pressure equalizes the low pressure switch opens and the compressor switches on. murf427

I cannot afford an aquarium chiller; however the temperature in my tank keeps rising and I can't seem to get it down. What should I do?

If your tank is in a room equipped with air conditioning, that would be your best bet; however if not, there are a few other options available to you.

I found a great do it yourself article on making a homemade aquarium chiller - take a look and see if it helps.

If this does not help, then try the following ideas:

Fill a plastic bottle with water, freeze it, and then place in the tank

Adjust your lighting

Attach small clip-on fans to the hood of your aquarium and aim them towards the waters surface

My aquarium chiller has stopped working. What should I do?

If you do not have a backup, try putting a frozen water bottle in your tank as a temporary fix until you are able to buy a replacement chiller.

When do I need an aquarium chiller?

You'll need a chiller when the ambient room temperature is higher than the desired temperature of your aquarium. This can happen due to many reasons such as:

1) If you live in a warm part of the world and decreasing the room temperature is not good enough.

2) If you wish to keep cold water species in your aquarium.

3) If you have installed heat emitting equipment that increases the water temperature such as light, pumps etc.

What is an inline water chiller?

An in-line water chiller is equipped with internal cooling coils. Water is pumped out of the aquarium, into the chiller where it is cooled, and then back to the aquarium again. An in-line chiller can be placed away from the aquarium and is therefore easier to hide.

My GE window AC Model#AEL06LXQ1 Serial#AM311149P I forgot to add my question. The AC is only a year old/young. It is properly installed in a basement window with ample space outside in the window well which is fully open to the air above the window well is only covered with a window mesh type screen which keeps clean & filters out debris only. Last year around this time it was cooling the entire room nicely however displaying e8 error code intermittently which was a problem. GE refused to advise via phone and set an appt. for a tech. to come over. I did some research and reset, unplugged, waited etc. I have a dedicated electrical outlet for the AC as well. I really do not recall what I did but the unit stopped error coding e8 altogether and worked wonderfully for the rest of the hot season. I cancelled the GE tech. Now this year I am having same problem. Unplugging, waiting, changing settings, resetting to default settings, I have tried everything and to no avail. The AC will run for a while with the compressor in check and cool down the apartment but it doesn't last long, approx. 45 minutes, at best with one or 2 times exception where it held cool overnight. I don't know what to do at this point. I am not too tech-savvy. I also am unable to lift this ac out of the window. I've a back injury and though a relatively small unit, it's too heavy. Please advise. I hope you have an easy fix solution. The user manual doesn't even list the error codes! I have spent hours searching youtube videos and haven't found a solution. Hoping it's as simple as manipulation a setting. Thank you.
