Question about Samsung Digimax A400 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Samsung A400 My camera LCD screen is in what I call "crayon" mode. The images are primary colors, the images are kind of outlined in black and rough. It kind of looks like a cartoon. When I upload the photos taken, they upload as they appear on the screen in that crayon mode. I have tried just about everything to fix it using the tools found in the menu (i.e: mode, quality, etc) It would be great to fix this on my own without having to take it to the place of purchase. The camera is only 15 mos old. Thank you for your time! Michelle

This is a CCD problem There was a recall across a range of makers and models because of a bad batch of CCD's that all makers used. Get onto Samsung Customer support- you may be one of them

Vertical lines on screen

Sound like a malfunctioning CCD-image sensor. Rare, but possible problem with your LCD screenviewer... in both cases (LCD or CCD) this isn't a job that you could solve yourself; this wrong include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

I suggest check THIS LINK for additional details in this previous solutions for an Defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) and next contact your Samsung service.
I strongly suggest (taking into consideration the age of your camera) to evaluate the cost of repair versus the cost of a new camera with similar features, before making a final desicion.

Hope this helps

If Canon A70 camera shows previously taken/ stored pictures properly in playback mode and does not show live view in LCD in camera mode to take fresh pictures then it is ccd imager chip failure problem and ccd imager chip will be replaced.

Samsung LCD TV Image Retention...I Think

I have not noticed that with my set, Sony Bravia 2007 1080I.

Uh, I have a bigger problem though...

I had just paused my live tv for about 40 minutes on abaseball game and now I have green burn in.
I'm in the middle of searching the net for solutions. I have tried:

pure white screen for 30 minutes (no change)
"fuzz" for 1 hour (no change)
turn TV off for 12 hours (no change)
I'll now try to power down fully for 12 hours and see what happens.

Camera showing/taking distorted images

According to many respected sources with far more expertise than myself, the symptoms you are describing also fall within the realm of Canon CCD failure. In Canon's Service Notice: CCD Image Sensor Advisory, they outline the most common symptoms (distorted images, LCD showing only a black screen, etc.). They have conveniently limited the description to the bare minimum. More symptoms of the failing CCD include: pictures appearing on LCD show up with severe color variations (pink-purplish or green tint), colored "streaks" or "lines" throughout pictures, and wavy distortions in image. Most of these symptoms include the color variations, but not always. The lines or waves can appear in any direction and with varying degrees of severity. Some LCDs do not go black, but turn totally purple. Here is a link to a very informative article that should clear up any questions you might have.
Digital Camera Repair Blog

If nothing else, call the Canon Customer Support Center at 1-800-828-4040. They will ask questions to identify whether or not you are having the same symptoms as described in the Product Advisory. I have been through this twice, and both times they were very nice and very helpful. Even if you don't qualify for the free repair, it didn't cost a thing to find out.
I hope this has been helpful.
