I have GE GSS25QGDM refrigerator and filter model is GWF. First when I bought my refrigerator I noticed that my filters running out very fast, about 3-4 months for one cartridge. This way I replaced 3 filters and I saved the old ones. Last summer I rechecked these filters again, two of them had very poor performance but 3d one was good and i installed it again. Strange thing that I am still using this filter and I can't complain about water current. I think I was using it about 3 months first time and I am using it now about 6 months. My 1st question is Why it didn't work before and it works now? 2nd-what can i do with my used filters, can i recycle them from GE or somewhere else?
Grand, on this model the filter is designed to be used for up to 8 hours of open valve time or one year of calendar time. In other words if it takes you 8 seconds to fill a glass, that would be 8 seconds of open valve time. When 90% of the filter time elapses, either open valve time or calendar time, (which ever comes first) the main control board will indicate the amber light. When 100% elapses, the light will go red. As far as recycling..you would have to give GE a call..Catriver..post back
