Most likely the back light is burned out. Since you do not mention the model number it is hard to tell if this uses a incandescent or florescent bulb.

SOURCE: vg2230wm monitor Will not power on

probably your power supply. Is it a cord direct from plug in for is there a box between where you plug it in and then a small round end that goes into the monitor. This would be the good news. If it plugs in direct then that means the power sopply is in the monitor itself which means more expensive to fix

SOURCE: monitor flashing on and off constantly

You have a problem in your power inverter board. Most likely cause is the FET (field effect transistor) conducting to ground. It controls the backlight for the monitor. Replacement boards are readily available. You can try www.lcdpart.com to order a replacement. Price should between 40-60 USD. It is fairly simple to change. The hardest part is getting the back cover off of the monitor. The part number you will need is right on the board itself. (Be careful not to touch the green cicuit board during the process) It will start with FSP-. It will be the number right at the edge of the board. Be sure to unplug the monitor and allow it to sit and discharge for at least 5 minutes before dis-assembly. This should help most of you folks who's monitors flash in this manner. This is typical for LCD monitors 4+ years old. Merry Christmas!

SOURCE: ViewSonic VA703m 17'' LCD monitor Issue

I would make sure that all the cables are securely connected to both the monitor and the pc computer (screwing the screws from the cable to the port will help hold the cable in). Beyond that, the issue is likely with the monitor and not something that can be fixed by the end user.

If the device is still in warranty (and checking the cables don't work). I would recommend sending it back to ViewSonic to have it fixed.

I have a ViewSonic VE910b 19" That the display stays black

What your both experiencing is a slow degradation of the inside light bulbs. Just like what happens to regular fluorescent bulbs, they slowly flicker out.

Best to buy a new monitor.

Take apart your old one, you'll find burnt out bullbs on the upper and lower chassis deep inside.

About a problem in my viewsonic monitor

Hi

Actually the common problem of viewsonic LCD monitor is bad electrolytic capacitor at primary, secondary & inverter area, if your lcd using power adaptor test the voltage out, use analog or digital tester range 50v dc, if the voltage out is accurate dont be sure to your adaptor working good, open it and find bad electrolytic capacitor inside. That is common problem of viewsonic LCD monitor could cause of display flashing then back to black after few seconds. Suspect inverter area lastly mainboard.

Gud Luck!
