Question about Fuji FinePix S9500 Zoom Digital Camera

Only 72ppi? after spending all this money this camera only takes pics on 72ppi? my old camera from 2000 (Coolpix 950) could take pics on up to 300ppi. I printed from the finepix and it looks seriously crap, even at 3096pix. is that the way it is? anybody knows?...

You are mistaken. "ppi" is not a measure of anything useful when considering digital cameras, it is only useful when discussing printers. According to this review: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilms9000/ The S9500 has a maximum resolution of 3488 x 2616. This means that when *printed* at 300 dpi, you can get an accurate 8.7" x 11.6" print without any "enlarging" (called interpolation). I would HIGHLY suspect the software used to print the photos, and not the camera itself. For excellent free, fast, and simple organizing and printing software (for Windows), take a look at www.preclick.com.

You don't need the driver...just get a card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop.

Nikon coolpix p1 camera takes weird outdoor pics

If the playback of old pictures are fine but camera mode displays lines across, you may have a defective CCD chip. These are expensive repair averaging around $110. Some local shop may able to repair it. Good luck -James. For further assistance by email, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com

Horizontal lines on image

This is not a solution , but only a work around. If you do at least 1/3 zoom on your lens before clicking a photo, these lines will not appear. But this not not a convenient way I agree.
Also this surely means that the CCD is not the problem otherwise it would have never worked ( electronic parts cant simply dont start to work when you zoom ringht ? ). Surely Nikon is fixing the issue, but cheating the customers by charging for a part is not defective in the first place
