My Pioneer will play DVDs but not CDs and I get the message "loading" until the carousel opens. I read the solution on this web site but am having trouble finding the "shiney" screws. Can I get further directions?

Your DVDneeds to be adjusted take out the tray turn over the lens there are two shiney screws to the bottom of the lens the one to the right is for dvd and the one to the left is for cd turn to adjust. good luck.

Pioneer model # DV-c503 will play DVD but does not play CD's anymore.

Hello,
The problem could be dirt on the surface of the lens.
Use a dry cotton bud to clean the surface of the lens, this you have to do gently because the lens is fragile.
If otherwise you have to change the lens.
Try websites Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy parts for replacement..

I have a Hitachi DV-DS163A it will play cds but

Hello,

how long have you been using the player. The problem is from the lens (laser) of your player, its too weak to play DVDs. That is, the power of the lens cannot load DVDs anymore.

The lens still loads Cd's, because Cd's don't have much bytes, compared to that of DVD's. The lens needs to be extra active to be DVD's

Get a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, if that does not solve the problem, then its means, the lens needs to be changed completely.

Good luck.

No sound playing DVDs

Is it connected to 5.1 amp??.The first thing to try is to go to set up menu and change the audio o/p to pcm track.See if this works. What has more than likely happened is unit is set to dolby digital and should be on pcm track instead. If this doesnt work more than likely fault in unit but have seen very few audio problems with dvds.
