You will need a firewire cable (IEEE 1934) to connect your camcorder to you pc. Before you purchase the cable you should first check you pc for the proper connections. The firewire IEEE 1934 is available in 4 pin or six pin connection types (not the typical usb). If your computer is not compatible, you should be able to pick up a fire wire adapter at your local electronics retailer (I purchased a pc card style for my laptop, recently, from Best Buy for approx. $10.00) You will also need software to edit the video (many are available for free download, online)
if no fire wire port ,try usb port and an editing program with capture options ...if both ways are not easy, try the a/v output and capture it from there .
Hi! I could sell you a new one. I have a friend working in Panasonic - he has access to the parts. You can contact me ar [email protected] (I check my e-mail very often).
Transfer of DV-avi from the Mini DV over firewire in digital (with audio) to your HDD and editing programs you need a fire wire port on your motherboard or an add in card.
Please check there are 2 types, the small type as on your camera and a larger 6 pin which is on Mother Board (MB). It is fairly standard to use a 4 pin to 6 pin firewire cable to hook up a DV camera. If there is no fire wire port in the MB, it is pretty cheap to add a PCI firewire card if your MB does not have one. You can often find USB2/Firewire combo cards for around $30. They hardly ever come with a firewire cable though, so expect to pay around $5-10 more or so for the cable.
