You shouldnot feed dog food to your cat because cats have different dietary needs than dogs. For example, cats need taurine, which is absent from commercial dog food(because dogs can make their taurine, while cats cannot).

You shouldn't feed dog food to a cat on a regular basis. But in case of an emergency, out of cat food and can't make it to the store that day. I have given my cat canned dog food with gravy and she loved it.

Jessica is totally correct, additionally, cats in their natural environment consume only raw meat, and many dog foods are (rightfully) bulked up using grains and vegetables. A cat is an obligate carnivore, i.e - biologically unable to get fuel from any food other than raw animal meat.

My cat is so fat what bed should I buy veronica

put the cat on a diet .Look at the back of the cat food on serving size for a normal cat weight. and don't feed it scraps or any of your food you are eating at the time that it is begging to have.

I had a 46 Kg fat dog - vet told me to serve portion size based on back of pack for a 26 kilo dog
Dog is now 26 Kilos it took 2 months

The vet also told me if dog is overweight vet bills become expensive when dog gets diabetes or other weight related illness.

Problems with dogs eating cat food

The following is advice from the ASPCA
Cat food is higher in protein and fat, which may make it very palatable to dogs, but if you continue to feed your dog only cat food, over time you'll begin to see nutritional imbalances. It's also possible to see gastrointestinal issues, such as vomiting and diarrhea, in dogs who continually eat cat food.

Which dog bowl should I buy in order to keep the feeding area clean?

You should pick the elevated dog bowl for cleaner feeding area. You clean the surface of the feeder table rather than the floor. In addition, the elevated dog bowl can minimize the behavior of dogs that like to splash in their water bowls.

What's the downside of automatic dog bowls?

The main issue with automatic dog bowls is that they make sure your dog always has food available. This may sound really good, but it can lead your dog to over-eat and gain too much weight. I believe that feeding your dog 2-3 times per day is a better option than free-feeding.

What's more expensive, cat food or dog food?

Cat food is easily more expensive than dog food, due to dogs being biologically capable of processing vegetable proteins whereas cats cannot. This means cat food SHOULD only contain animal protein and is thus more expensive.

Can I feed my fish cat food?

I do not recommend feeding your fish anything other thanfish food. Fish food is specificallydesigned to be nutritious and digestible to fish. You cannot say the same about any otheranimals' food. If you are out of fishfood, you can feed fish soggy bread crumbs for up to 24 hours before theyrequire something more substantial.b>
