If your head gasket is good, and you know this without a doubt, then you either have a cracked head/block or your head is warped. There is no other way for coolant to be getting in your oil. Heads aint any fun to take out and mess with but if you can do the work yourself it isn't to expensive to do. As long as your block is good. Good luck.

If you take out number 4 plug and look in the hole do you see antifreeze? If yes, then yes, replace the head gasket.

Hi ,engine oil in the coolant can only mean 1 of 2 things either head gasket or cracked block,It often takes experienced eye to see where the gasket problem is, it wont be :cracked:in that sense of the word, but I`m sure that will be the trouble... for oil to be in the water the leak will be between an oil gallery hol;e and a water jacket hole and the onlyevidence may be a darker colour between the 2 holes it wont be abig section ,or the oil pressure would have pushed alot of oil through into the water i think it is on an oil return gallery, unless there was a lot of oil.if you know an experienced older mechanic ask him to have a look at the gasket for you.I doubt it will be a cracked block ,unless you have had it realy hot and added cold water to the engine while it was hot. If not I sugest you clean every thing nicely and put anew head gasket on put it back together..If you need any help in that area, dont hesitate to get back to me and i`ll help where Ican, thanks

2006 Toyota Avanza is mixing oil with the cooling system in the radiator. Do i need to replace the oil cooler?

This will depend on if the cooler is air cooled or water cooled. With water cooled setups, yes, you will probably need to replace it.
With Air cooled setups if oil is mixing with coolant the problem is somewhere else on the engine. The most likely place would be the head gasket.

Engine mixing water and oil in the sump. took the cylinder head and engine block for pressure test. but still mixing what could be wrong. The above was returned as not cracked.

hi there.
Water in the engine - Water can get into your oil sump in two ways: ... Water in the oil- Coolant leak due to non-watertight seal (cylinder head gasket, etc.). If this happens, there is a leak and water is getting into the oil.
Water in engine oil
If you found water in oil car , this water engine car section is for you!
Water in car engine? Water should never be allowed to get into the oil in your engine or gearbox. Otherwise, it will result in significant foaming, dramatically reducing the product's lubrication properties.
Water in the engine - Water can get into your oil sump in two ways:
  • Water in car - Water condensation in cold air or combustion gases: this phenomenon is extremely rare and only occurs at specific temperatures.
  • Water in the oil - Coolant leak due to non-watertight seal (cylinder head gasket, etc.). If this happens, there is a leak and water is getting into the oil.
Water in motor oil can cause serious damage to your engine - the oil will be denatured and no longer effectively cooled.

Is there a sealant for a blown head gasket or cracked head?

Hey Michael,
How/why do you think you have a blown gasket/cracked head??
....If you have a blown head gasket/cracked head you need to get it fixed ASAP.. Check your oil for cross contamination...( a light cream colored oil indicates water/antifreeze mixed with the oil).this WILL cause major damage if you continue to run the engine..(WATER is NOT a good engine lubricant!!!!) There are several "sealants" or radiator stop leak products... BUT ..cleaning these out of a coolant system is a NOT FUN!!.. Sorry.. trying to "patch" this will lead to more $$$$$ down the road!!

WATER AND OIL MIX UNDER AIR FILTER 1997 Suzuki Swift • 1.3L 4 cylinder FWD Manual

have a compression test done on your engine to diagnose its state...if the cylinder head gasket has gone it will need replacing. You cannot fix it with sealnt.
The head gasket usually goes because of overheating at some prior time to the gasket going. The heat can cause the head to warp or crack in extreme circumstances. I n either case the head would have to be repaired if possible, adding sealant will not fix this.
The more you drive in this condition the more damage you are likely to incur

good luck

What can cause a heavily mixing oil and water in the engine but no oil found in the radiator

There is oil already in the engine oil pan and lubrication system and apart from some condensation there should be no water. The only place water can come from in any quantity is from the cooling system and although cracks and leaky water heated inlet manifolds and gaskets can be the cause the most common source of coolant ingress is the cylinder head gasket.

A failing head gasket doesn't very often mean there will be oil in the coolant.

Engine oil mixing into coolant

The only place, oil and water share a gasket is the cylinder head gasket, oil and water galleries run through the engine block and head via the head gasket. The cylinder pressure will be OK, it's the oil pressure that's putting the oil in the coolant, the gasket has gone between the water and oil galleries or there is an internal crack (unlikely). A coolant pressure test should show it up.

Water getting into oil

If its just condensation in the oil cap or dipstick, to some degree its normal. However if you have water in the oil and its very creamy in texture, its probably a head gasket leak, or cracked head. Its important to get it repaired soon, or total engine bearing failure will result.
