This is a complicated process and I advise you to be very cautious and carefully organize all screws and cables that you unplug in a clean and undisturbed area. Pay keen attention as to where cables are unplugged from so you can plug them in when hard drive is inserted. I must say proceed at your own risk because it might get frustrating if you are not careful and organized. First, turn over the laptop and loose all 7 screws on the perimeter of the laptop. Loose one screw in the middle and 2 on both sides of the battery (total 10 screws). Remove the battery, there are two clips there holding the keyboard. Release those and remove the keyboard and unplug main keyboard data cable from motherboard. Unplug the power switch cable, and the touchpad cable from m/board. Unscrew 3 screws from under the keyboard to remove the top cover of laptop. When that is removed you will see the hard drive in the bottom right. There are 3 screws holding the hdd to the system and 4 holding the enclosure that needs to be removed. Unplug the sata cable and use it for new sata hard drive. I hope you have had the patience to do this as this is a job for a technician. If you have succeeded, congratulations.

I have just replaced my old 80 GB hard drive for a new 250 Gb, I followed the instructions by Lolita, so if you are willing to upgrade your laptop this is the right place to look for info. Thanks Lolita, and thanks FixYa.

I just put a new 9 cell battery, two new 2GB ram cards & a new, blank hard drive in our Dell Inspiron 1525. But the screen does not seem to work when I turn it on, or after I put in an installation...

Remove the battery, and connect the AC power. Then, try to start it.

Disconnect the AC power, and remove the "new" disk-drive.

Disconnect the AC power. Remove the "new" RAM, and put the "old" RAM back in.

Dell Inspiron Error Msg 2000-0141 cannot detect Hard Drive

You might have a hard drive crash, Meaning the hard drive needs to be changed out in it.

This happends over time, heat,AGE and all other sorts of occurances. Hard drives to not last! period! The only fix here is to have the hard drive replaced with new. Now in this model the hard drive should be on the bottem of the unit under a cover. you take a screw driver and open that hatch and take the hard drive out. You can bring that to a local best buy or computer shop and have a replacement put in Around $89-150 bucks depending on size you get and brand.

Thanks I hope this helps you out please do be considerate and leave postive feedback and ratings for your free answer today.

My hard drive crashed how do i change it properly

there should be a screw or two screws on the bottom of the laptop next to a release. unscrew the screws and try sliding out the hard drive, if there is a black piece of plastic thats on the end carefully remove it, the pop that piece onto the new one. unless your laptop uses sata drives, then just pop a new hard drive in.

Trying to find a way to reset or bypass the HDD1 user password on my Toshiba A135-4527 laptop. It was reset somehow to something we do not remember. Hoping I do not have to replace the harddrive. Saw...

The hard drive password is set from the BIOS configuration where the hard drive was installed and you need to know the password to remove the existing password. You can only remove the password from that computer's BIOS and moving the hard drive to another omputer will not allow you to remove the password or access any data on that hard drive because the password is stored in the hard drive's firmware. This password protected hard drives prevents unauthorized access to the data on that hard disk.
Removing the BIOS battery will reset the BIOS but will not remove the password.
Some computers have been setup with Power On Passwords and/or hard drive passords and it is possible to hack/read the Power On Password that is stored on an EEPROM chip on the laptop, but it is not a simple process.
You will need to buy a new hard drive and now you also have a nice paper weight.

Powermate Eco Hard Drive Crashed

Hello

instructions on how to remove and replace the hard drive are on this PDF document.

http://support.necam.com/mobilesolutions/hardware/Desktops/eco/819-201002-000med.pdf

You will need a pdf reader to open the document, if you are unable to open it download a pdf reader here
http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/

Can you remove the hard drive from the computer, write down the details that read on top of it, and also if you could look at the connectors and tell me the details so I can make sure I direct you at a proper replacement.

Thank you,
Ekse
