Recently when I turn on my camera it beeps multiple times and I get the following error "Turn the power off and on again". I do this and the error message is still a constant. I am able to view pictures but the camera's lens doesn't open and this error stays up when in picture and video mode. I removed the SD card and battery and reseated them. Please help!!!!! Thanks-

Where do I take this to get this fixed?

  • Anonymous Mar 20, 2014

When I turned the camera on, the lens would move in and out a few times, then the screen would show "turn camera off, then turn on again. I would, and would get the same thing. Now I just get a blank screen. I can, however, still view the pictures I had already taken

I just had the same problem and I didn't know what to do and I found this post it was somewhat helpful. After I read this I disassembled the camera and I pulled out the lens cover up a bit its held by this white plastic inside be careful not to pull to hard because it looks like it could break easily. After I got the lens cover a little bit above the lens itself I powered it up and the lens MOVED! I tested it again and it worked. So I placed the lens cover back over the lens. And it all back together. It was a really quick fix it took me less than 10 minutes. I hope this is helpful to anyone that gets "Turn off the power off and on again" error.

You probably have a defective lens assy. When turned on lens has to move to certain position but because of broken gear or some mechanical problem it can not perform that funtion. Remedy is to disassemble the lens assy and repair the problem. Many time the whole lens assy are replace to repair the problem. normal repair charges for this kind problem is $125-200 in US depending on parts use.
