My outside condenser fan seems to be noiser than some of the newer models, I have two blade fan. Is this just norman with a 10 year old system? My system is a UAMB-48

The bearings may be worn a little in the motor. This will cause a little bit of a whining sound when the unit is running. Eventually, (if this is the problem) the motor will quit and you will have to have a new motor.
Also, make sure the outdoor coil is clean. This coil is behind the fins that are on 3 sides of the unit. You can wash this coil out with a hose and sprayer. First, disconnect power before servicing. Mark

Is there a drain location? How do I oil the fan ?if there is a noise could that be caused by the fan. Thanks

The drain is usually in the back of of the unit.

Fan motors are almost all 'oil-less.' I don't know of any 'new' Mfc putting motors (than can be oiled) on their units these days. You'd have to have a very old (15-20 year old) unit - that would have motors that could be oiled.

Fan motors will typically make noise when the bearings are going out - in which case the only cure is to replace the motor.

Note: it's possible you have a fan blade hitting against something - but it's not likely.

good luck!

Have 2 year old Frigidaire FAH105N1T Air Conditioner. Fan stopped working on fan or cool. Serviced twice and they said fan needed to be oiled. Worked 3 weeks then they said it needed fan motor. Bought new...

it possible to replace the defective as follow:
1- take out the unit
2- remove the top cover
3- try to take out the wires from there connections and note each color to witch connection
4- loose bolt of indoor blower to the shaft
5- open the bolt of the condenser fan to the other end of motor shaft and take out the fan
6- open the fixation nuts or bolts of the motor then slide it outside.
7 replace as take care about witch side of shaft is for blower or fan.

Blower motor on my Ruud furnace won't turn on when the a/c is on also won't turn on manually

You need to buy a new fan motor. If you could have turned the fan with your hand all you would have needed would have been a capacitor. If your filter is always dirty or the a coil is dirty will shorten the life of a fan motor. Just for things to consider in the future. Now if the unit is about 10 years old just wore out. Get a new capacitor when you get new fan they are cheap well 5 bucks any way.

My RV rooftop air conditioner fan has seized up

Whether to replace the entire unit or repair it is a tough decision. If the unit is not very old and was working fine before the fan motor froze up, then I do not think that it is necessary for the entire unit to be replaced. With a new unit of course comes the new warranty.

It is not difficult at all to replace the upper unit of the air conditioner. What you have to look for and make sure of is that the ceiling pack or Air Distribution Box (inside unit of AC) that you currently have is compatible with the new Upper Units. Get the part number off of the inner unit and make sure that it is compatible with the part number of the new upper.

Again, it is much less expensive to replace the fan motor than the entire unit (especially Dometic). You could replace the fan motor and get another 10 years out of the AC or, you could replace it and only get 1 year out of it. That is your call.

Just a word of precaution. Dometic Air Conditioners are very hard to find right now due to an industrial accident that occurred at the AC plant. Most distributors and service centers are 6 to 8 weeks out on getting a Dometic AC in stock. That is something else to think about.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

I have a GE central air conditioner model

If you are talking about the indoor fan it is probably a bad capacitor. Replace the fan motor capacitor. And YES, if the fan motor needs replacing too, you can DO-IT-YOURSELF.

Air conditioner

Turn off unit supply and check the blower wheel inside the indoor unit by rotating it manually by your finger if the blower wheel rotates freely then there is something wrong with your fan motor or fan motor capacitor. But if the blower wheel is not rotating freely try to check the fan motor for lubrication or some bushing dried of and no oil
