I had the same problem, so i opened it up and say that a big black transistor was leaking white fluid that hardened. it was right near the back of the unit I'm trying to look for a new transistor to replace it and if i find one ill let you know.

I have the same problem, if you find a solution email me at [email protected] please. I just tore my dash apart to find the factory antenna end, it had an xm module plugged in, but I no longer use that and I thought that the problem perhaps came from the xm, it doesnt.

Check page 20 for details of how to turn sound attenuation off and on.
If still no luck, try resetting the whole unit (page 7)
Try cleaning the front panel connectors (page 25)
If this doesn't work, the "ATT" telephone interface connection cable may be shorting out on something - only way to check is to pull the unit out and check any of the unconnected cables, it should be labelled.
