I am also a yoga enthusiast. I had my eye on a mat from Lululemon for ages and finally bought it. I must say that it was the best investment I have ever made. I suggest checking their mat out; however you may also want to look around a little before committing.

Where can I buy my wife a handmade yoga mat bag? I really want something personal.

On Alliebags they have some lovely designs for yoga mat carriers and it says they are handmade. I'm sure you can find your wife something there http://www.alliebags.com/ALLIEBAGS/Home.html or take a look at the Etsy site; http://www.etsy.com/listing/62348759/xl-yoga-mat-bag-handmade

How thick should a yoga mat be?

The thickness of a yoga mat is really a comfort issue. Also when you roll it up, thicker yoga mats can be harder to carry. Some people prefer mats that are thicker as they provide better cushioning, so body weight can also play a part in the decision.

I would like to buy a new yoga mat. My last one was made from PVC but I would like to now purchase a rubber mat. Can anyone recommend a brand that they know is good quality?

Agreed with debbie. Jade is one of the best supplier of yoga mats. But if you want more variety then visit online stores or malls near you.

I am just about to start taking yoga classes and want to buy my own mat. There are so many to choose from, how do I know which one I should buy?

Gaiam sells a great basic yoga mat for beginners. I highly suggest taking a look at it. I will send you a link with more information about these mats that should help.
