There is not a USB splitter for computer headsets like the Plantronics
BlackWire C220, you would have to go to a commercial grade headset to
have that function. You can use any of the Plantronics "H-series"
headsets with the Plantronics Y-training cable (model 27019-03), along
with a USB adapter like the Plantronics DA40 or DA45 for training
purposes.
This is a plug-n-play headset, so no special software is necessary for it
to work properly. You want to make sure the leads are plugged into the
right jacks on the computer and that the jacks are live.
If you are using a Mac computer your Plantronics .Audio headset will not
work The microphone plug on the .Audio analog headsets is not
compatible with a
Mac. It will physically fit into the Mic input jack on a Mac; however,
it will not function. Basically, the digital sound card does not
recognize the analog signal coming in from the headset.
I finally solved this problem. Buy a CSR v4.0 enabled bluetooth dongle
on ebay, plug it in to a usb slot. Right click the bluetooth icon in
system tray and select "Settings" and tick "Allow bluetooth devices to
find this computer." Then click "add a device",
turn on your bluetooth headphones and the headphones will show up in
bluetooth devices. Add the device, then right click your speaker icon in
the system tray, select playback devices. From the menu, select the
headphones and set them as default. I did this
and they work perfectly. Furthermore when I turn the headphones off,
the sound goes back to normal speakers - no other adjustments made. Turn
the headphones on again and the sound defaults to them. I noticed on an
earlier failed install of the headphones when
they did appear in Devices and Printers that the drivers were CSR
something enabled. I did try some cheaper dongles and the actual
Plantronics USB dongle(expensive) to no avail. Get a CSR 4.0 enabled
device. Mine cost 6.00AU total.
The CS50-USB from Plantronics extends wireless freedom to your
softphone. It’s the first wireless headset for VoIP applications with
remote call detection and answer/end capability via PerSonoCall
software (built-in).
This is a "known issue" that I have raised to Plantronics. Whether they do anything about it, remains to be seen. The workaround I have discovered seems to work with both of my P590 headphones that stopped charging:
1. Plug in the USB charging cable to a laptop or computer that is powered on. 2. Connect the USB charging cable to the headphones 3. Connect the 3.5mm headphone cord cable to the headphone output on the laptop of computer (this is the long cable with the normal 3.5mm stereo plug at each end) 4. Plug the other end of the 3.5mm cable into the P590 input.
