Multiple printer drivers installed

Not everytime, but every couple of days that I use the HP6280 printer on my computer, it installs the driver again. It has all the copies listed as different choices to print from (I'm currently up to Copy 13). It will only print if the latest copy is selected. Each time it installs it comes up with a msg to allow an exe program to run. I've done this a few times and it's told me that installation is complete (including having to use the installation CDs again). I can't be bothered going through all this and just cancel this msg now. I don't use this printer with any other computers or any other printers on this computer.

I know this sounds silly, but make sure that the CD is out of the drive when you reboot, otherwise it will automatically run the installation software.

To delete those other drivers:

1. Open Printers by clicking the Start button multiple printer drivers installed - getopencontent.aspx?assetid=4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33&documentset=en-us&renderkey=xml, clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then clicking Printers.
2. Right-click the printer that you want to remove, and then click Delete.

Hope this helped and have a wonderful holiday!

Probably your computer has more than one network cards.
I had same problem on my main PC and I found it is not the printer itself after my investigation.
Probably the driver issue. It looks the printer driver can not get the printer status correctly if the computer has multiple network card installed.
I had VMWare installed, then VMWare installed 2 virtual network cards.
Once I uninstall VMWare, the offlince issue is gone.
Believe it or not, I'm also software engineer for other printer company so I could guess what the problem might be.
Good luck,

Printer USB Cable un recognized DCP150C

You need to isolate the problem. You tried using multiple cables and reinstalled the printer driver several times, but you never mentioned that you tried connecting the printer into another computer. What if the problem is the USB port of the computer and not the printer cable?

Try connecting and installing the problem printer into different computer for testing purpose only. If it work, then the problem is the USB port of the computer. To fix this, try updating the USB driver of your computer.

If same problem occurs using another computer, then you need to contact the manufacturer of your printer. I've heard this problem before and I don't have an update if there's a fix with it.

Have a great day!

Driver problem on Vista w/HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One

I have a similar problem on Vista Home Premium (SP1) with the all-in-one HP psc2355. Driver once in a while (why - I don't know!) has to reinstall itself after reboot. Tried clean installs, driver updates you name it.To no avail. I have multiple instances of the driver installed now. Only the latest entry actually works. Can't find any resolution for it anywhere. Only happens with the HP USB driver.

USB port problem

I would try first of all making sure that all of your drivers are up to date. I am saying this because it is always a good first step, but I am not 100% confident that this will fix it. There are a few updates that are listed as URGENT for your specific computer. The link to your drivers is below. The main one that concerns me is the Intel Chipset Driver located under chipset. This is listed as URGENT and may be a solution to your problem. The chipset is part of the motherboard that can be responsible for controlling your USB ports. If this does not remedy the situation I would contact Dell support for a possible solution.
