When i turn the tv on their is a line across the middle of the screen, the sound is fine. If you hit the tv the picture comes back on, but keeps going back to the same line across the screen. Once the tv gets warmed up it stops this. What causes this, and is it worth having repaired?

Re: 27" flat screen
The main cause of this problem is cracked solder joints on the vertical output IC.
Re-flowing the solder should take care of it. Sometimes a capacitor (normally against the heat sink containing the vertical output) will cause this, but, it usually has a different symptom.
The price of repair will normally run, depending on where you live, $100.00 to $130.00. It's a small job and is done quickly.
Hope this helps.

It is an indication that you have a problem on the vertical section on the main board.
The faulty parts is the electrolytic capacitor which affect the linearity of the screen that's why you encountered that kind of problem.
I've advice you to send it to repair shop or look for a qualified technician to isolate the faulty electrolytic capacitor and do re-soldering for some dry joints on the main board.Once replaced the capacitor your unit will back to normal again.
