I backpack and carry my gear for miles, I use a Eureka that weighs under 3 pounds and also have a Sierra Design that is 4 pounds, both are 2 person tents, and have proven tuff thru all season weather, I advise a four season tent.

A tent needs to be heavy enough to be well built a durable in use. Some tents weigh 4-5 pounds, others weigh 40-50 pounds.

How heavy a tent you should buy depends on what you want to use it for.

Does I matter what type of ground I put my tent on?

Most of the tents can be installed on all types of surfaces including grass, decks, concrete, etc. for example if you locate your tent on a concrete surface you will need to secure you tent with heavy affixes in most cases water barrels so you'll need to have a nearby water source, the affixes varies from each different surface so you should look into what's the best option for your surface.

How heavy should my tent be?

Large capacity canvas tents fully equipped with accessories could weigh up to 60 pounds. Middle capacity single or double room tents with accessories weigh in the range of 17 to 35 pounds and a couple's tent weighs around 5-6 pounds.

Thinking of buying this tent would you recommend it?

I used this tent quite often on my hiking trips, it's not the Rolls Royce of tents, but it's a good value for your money.

Pros -
easy to set up - 10 minutes is vry slow....
Can sleep to easly as long as they are not very tall, below 6'2".
Nice view

Cons -
lack of vestibule
lack of second door really annoying when the inner person wakes up earlier or go to sleep later...
weight, a bit heavy for long and serious hiking.
