I have just purchased a i900 Microtek flat bed scanner with th ProScan software package and I cant seem to get the thing to scan my 35mm slide collection. Im sure somebody has some expierence with this machine and understands the sequence of procedures required to scan 35mm slides. I cant seem to get the scanned slides to be consistant in size. Some are full screen and some are small 3X5 on a black screen even though I scanned them using the same proceedure. If you know anyone that understands and uses the "PRO" software I would appreciate hearing from them.

Re: Need operating instructions
This link should have user manual etc.
but unfortunately the site is down at the moment - try again later.
on the singapore (east asia) site
nothing obvious based on your problem, but at least it means they still acknowledge the product and that they have to support it. maybe you can spot something yourself as well.
If no luck with the US website then go to microtek.com and complain to any of the other sites. Their customer service should help.
If no joy from this please post again, someone might know the software.
Hope this helps :)

Step 1. Install Microtek ScanWizard 5
Install the ScanWizard 5 scanner driver (included in your Microtek CD-ROM) as instructed in the Installing and Getting Started booklet(a separate document that came with your scanner package).
For ScanWizard 5 to work properly after installation, the correct scanner model should be properly connected to your host beforehand and it needs to be "powered on" before launching the software.
Try placing your paper at different places on the scan bed. Also if you have fluorescent lights on nearby turn them off.
Also is your driver compatiible with your OS?
Did you recnently upgrade anythin?
Lines in the ourput could be because of dust on the glass, clean the glass. Dont use any solvent. Try and reinstall the software driver after removing the existing. Run Scandisk on the computer. Soem scanners cannot work continuously for long hours.
First thing to do is un install and reinstall the software.
Then consider - what other software could be running the could conflict[A graphics program for example]is to try another software for scanning if available.
The other thing to consider is the age of the scanner- if it is from the DOS era-95/8/ME- then it will like as not not run- there is a firmware problem.
Scanners have a controller chip - DOS era devices are looking for DOS commands - and they are getting NTFS commands- various makers like Microtek tried driver fudges- but they did not work.
It has to be a NTFS scanner for NTFS commands.
I found it here.. and there ..
