Whirlpool Front Loading Washer Does Not Dispense Softener
I noticed that the softener is left in the dispenser after the wash is complete. Taking a soft bristle brush and cleaning the holes directly above the softener dispense compartment helps but only for a while. Is there a better way to more thoroughly clean or flush out these holes? I have recently ordered an in line filter that will hopefully keep sediment out (I have well water).
Thanks
Its not the sediment that is the problem the filter will do nothing for this problem. The best thing to do is to remove the drawer from the machine and clean the syphon on the softener compartment. It becomes blocked when excessive amounts of wash powder is being used.Alternatively the powder can be put straight into the drum.

Have you tried thinning the softener with water? It's what I used to do on my older washer, it wasn't the new Duet, but it seemed to help. Hope that helps. (PS I don't use softener anymore as I have developed a terrible skin allergy to these newer longer scented softeners! )
My wife reported the same problem and I took the top off the washer (2 screws at rear of washer and top slides forward) . Under the top on the left front side behind is the dispenser. On the top is a click adjuster similar to a clock hand pointer and in the center is a tick mark and off to the left side is (-) marks for reduced dispensing and to the right (+) marks for increasing dispensing. I moved the pointer all the way to the plus side and after a few loads the dispenser works fine. I assume over time the different fluids (fabric softener, detergent, etc) tend to gum up the valve mechanism. If this doesn't work I would try pouring some very hot water in it to try and loosen things up. After you try all the free thing, I guess the last option is a new dispenser.
In applications with low water pressure, insufficient water volume is introduced during the fabric softener dispensing portion of the cycle to flush the dispenser. RESOLUTION: The holes in the dispenser housing were enlarged to allow a greater volume of water to flow through the fabric softener dispenser to properly dispense the fabric softener. Order and replace the dispenser housing, Part #8181719, to correct the condition
