Webroot SpySweeper 5.5 incompatible with Vista Home Premium 32bit

I recently purchased a new laptop which came with Vista Home Premium 32-bit OS pre-installed. Before connecting to the Internet I installed Webroot Spy Sweeper Antivirus and Antispyware with desktop firewall. No problems were encountered during the installation process.

The problem I now face is when I try to run Spy Sweeper 5.5 a windows pop-up comes up saying this is incompatible with this version of Windows.

I have done a bit of my own investigative work on the Internet and it seems a Windows update (KB943302 in particular) hard-blocks Webroot Spy Sweeper 5.5. I do not want to disable any critical windows update without fully knowing the implications (not sure how do it in vista even if I wanted to do it). What does Microsoft got against Webroot Spy Sweeper anyways?

Can you please advise as to what is blocking it and why/how I can get it to work with this stupid OS.

Many thanks,
Novice and Frustrated Vista user

I have the same incompatibility problem with Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, and SpySweeper 5.5. I wasted my money on Spy Sweeper.

I had my Webroot Spy Sweeper installed when I bought my computer - which came with the Windows Vista Home Premium Operating System - My Webroot - according to the "sweep schecules" has NEVER run a sweep since it was installed. the program will let me operate within itself - but it does not operate on it's own & only continues to tell me to go to the options page and download a "definitions" file. I've tried - it tells me installation is complete - but NOTHING. I want to uninstall my WEBROOT!

Any other anti-spyware out there just as good & COMPATIBLE WITH MY VERSION OF VISTA??????

Does windows vista home premium with 32-bit os support maya (animation software)?

Yes. Autodesk Maya will run on vista home premium 32-bit. The software requirements are enough but make sure the hardware also supports Maya. Leave a comment for further information. Don't forget to rate the answer.

Hi, I have Inspiron 1545 and I've installed the windows vista home premium 32 bit, but the OS could not detect the Dell Bluetooth Module. Is there any solutions to this problem ?

Try to download the bluetooth driver from the Dell Support website. Go to www.support.dell.com and enter the service tag, which you can find in the bottom of the computer. It will list all the available drivers. Find the bluetooth driver for the computer for the particular OS (in your case Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit), then download and install it. Restart the computer. It should be working.

Error states Spy Sweeper is not compatible with 64-bit operating systems.

This from the Webroot Web site on supported operating systems:

Windows Vista® (32-bit versions of Home Basic, Premium, Business, or Ultimate), Vista SP1 (32- and 64 bit versions of (Home Basic, Premium, Business, or Ultimate).

So, assuming you have bought the latest Spysweeper (and assuming you have Vista 64 bit) , then you need to upgrade your Vista to SP1.

System crashes and i have to reformat after installing msn premium software on new 64 bit vista laptop

you can downgrade to 32bit. you would have to reinstall windows using a 32bit cd. i would recommend it you wont see much of a difference. all programs where originally made for 32 bit. the only difference between the two is that 64bit supports more ram. like xp pro; 32bit will recognize 3.25gb as ram even if you have 4gb installed but other than that not much difference. personally i dont like any 64bit systems nor vista... but with 32bit you will be able to run a wider range of programs with no problem

Spysweeper is incompatibile with this verison ofwindows vista

Webroot may provide you with a free upgrade if you recently purchased your software.

All customers who purchased software from Webroot Software are eligible for free replacement and software updates within one year of their original date of purchase (or the purchase of a registration renewal).

Fill out the form at this link (http://www.webroot.com/updates/redownload/request) and after webroot verifies your info they should e-mail you a download link and keycode if you purchased within the last year.

Although in my humble opinion Spy sweeper is a bit of a resource hog and does not provide the best protection against malware/Spyware. I would recommend checking out malware bytes Anti-malware (they have both a free and a paid PRO version that has automatic protection). It is much more effective, cheaper, and your pc will run faster with this then spysweeper.

You can download it from www.malwarebytes.org.

Software incompatibility on my acer aspire6930-6455

Well, we wont know until you try. In my opinion, your 32/64 bit issues will be solved, but you would still have the normal vista/xp compatibility issues.

But that is to be expected, like when we all upgraded from win98 to XP.

So - I would recommend downgrading to Vista 32 bit, or getting the 64bit software version of the programs you want to use.

Good Luck, and let me know what you did, and how it turned out! :)
