My lens cover will not open at all. When I put the camera on, the zoom comes out but the cover only opens a bit, I cant even flip it open with my finger, it just goes back to being closed. Am from South Africa and bought it in USA.
I use it often and need advice.

Lens is stuck extended, won't close, won't open all the way, when I power on my camera it keeps the lens extended, moving in and out trying to focus, when I turn it off, it won't close the lens back in either, it says, "please turn camera off and back on again" - which I do, but the lens won't go back in??? batteries are new, so that's not the issue, any suggestions?

Can't take any photos and have only had it maybe 3-4 months??? help

I'm sorry but this is a serious problem. The lens assembly is proabably busted. If you plan to take the camera to a service center be shure you ask the people there for a price estimate over the repair, before they actually do something to the camera. This repair can cost $70-100 or even more. In most cases the lens assembly can't be repaired and needs to be changed.

SD memory card is not suported

What size memory card? If it's larger than 2GB then it's actually an SDHC card and won't work with the DMC-LZ3.

I filled my Panasonic LZ3's lenses with sand and...

This camera will most likely need a firmware upgrade. You can send it in and have the company repair it for $50. That is what I recommend doing. Otherwise you may have to dismantle entire camera and spray with a can of air duster. You may get lucky enough to just clean it, but there is slight chance it messed up the firmware and it will need to be upgraded or reprogrammed

Panasonic DMC-LZ3 upgrade

Unlike some of Panasonic's other models in the DMC category, the LZ3 does not include a microphone (the little "dimple" on the top is where it would be).

In other words, even if the software could be upgraded the hardware does not support audio recording.
