Question about Radio Shack Wireless Weather Forecaster

Open Question

My 63-1090 registers everything correctly but has no outside temperature or humidity. I have tried all three channels.

I enjoyed my 63-1090 when first received it as a give, but after few weeks, it stopped registering the outside humidity and the outside temperature--everything else works fine. I have reset. I have tried all three channels. Nothing appears in those two boxes. How do I get it to work?

I have brought the sensor to sit on the same surface as the thermometer. I have changed the batteries in both units; then reset both units. Nothing still registers in outside temp or humidity boxes. The boxes for the inside temp and humidity work fine as does the clock at the bottom of the unit. Nothing I see to do allows for registering the outside temp and humidity. I have the manual for the unit. Itn it yet says for the red light to blink every 40 seconds as it recalculates the outside factors. The sensor does this, but there does not seem to be a connection between the sensor and the thermometer. Thanks for your suggestions.

SOURCE: my scanner will not transmit digital trunking channels

I have the same problem. A good shake restores the digital channels to working order for a few hours again.

I think I have a cold solder joint or similar internal problem. I've only had it a few months.

Since a quick shake cures it, I'm not going to return it yet. But it could be that there is something going on with the internals.

I have an Essics H12-400 humidifier that appears to be operating correctly but it doesn't need refilling but every 4 days or so even on the highest humidifying setting. It has a new filter.

It may very well be operating properly. One way to tell is to buy an inexpensive humidity gauge and check to see what the humidity level in the room is. (You rarely need extra humidity when the outside temperature is above 32°, and usually not until it drops into teh teens.)
Here's one you can pick up for $10 on Amazon.

How should wine be stored?

There are three crucial elements to consider when storing wine - temperature, humidity and light & vibrations.

Temperature - it is best to store wines between 50-57F

Humidity - try to achieve a level of 60% humidity; which helps to keep the cork moist

Light & Vibration - keep your wines away from direct light and very still so not to disturb the elements inside the bottle

What is the gallons per 24hour output capacity of this unit?

There are several variables that will determine the gallons used per 24 hour period.
  • At what humidity level do you have it set for? The higher the level, the faster consumption.
  • How much air movement is there in the are in the house/area of the humidifier?
  • How air tight is your home?.
  • How may people occupy the home?
  • Whats the temperature setting for your primary heat source?
Let's assume that everything is perfect. Your humidifier holds approximately 6 gallons of water, when completely full. The ideal humidity level depending on the outside air temperature is 40 to 50%. Once the humidity level you have it set for is reached, the humidifier shuts off. When the humidity level drops significantly, it turns back on. So, as you can see, it's difficult to come up with an exact figure. But based on if everything was perfect, about 1.5 to 2 quarts per hour or almost 6 gallons in 24 hours.

For more details on this humidifier call 1-800-546-5637.

Hope this helps you.

My new storm tracker STX7500 weathertech does not display the outside temperature

Take out the batteries in the main station for at least 5 min. Also, check the batteries on your outside station and make sure that they are new and the same brand, not rechargeables. Make sure that the outside station is reading a temperature and humidity first. Make sure that the outside gauge is close enough to your inside station. Having your inside station to near electrical or metal things or the outside station too far from the inside station is the most likely of your problems. To test this, once you've restarted your inside station, bring it close to the outside station and see if it's reading. Also, check the bottom right to see if your inside station has an antenna icon. If so, it's just updating from the radio station that updates your station often. Wait for that antenna to disappear from the bottom screen before trying to figure if your outside station is reading correctly. Finally, make sure that you have the right time zone, state, and city programmed into your inside station. If none of these work, call or e-mail the link in your book. Hope this works.

Outside unit not registering temp and humidity to base unit

Uniden EWCI936
To get the outside temperature working again, open the outdoor sensor box carefully loosening the one screw with a screwdriver, insert 3 brand new AA batteries, check phone for outside temperature. If not showing on the phone display, try changing the 'channel' setting, just above the batteries. Be careful not to break the tiny switch. Gently use a smaller flathead screwdriver, if needed. There are 3 settings. Mine worked fine on the first setting. If it is showing on the phone set screens, then, carefully screw the lid back on to the sensor box, and re-insert into the sensor wall holder. I keep mine in a plastic bag on a shelf outside, away from sun, so I can get a true reading day or night. It is always a bit warmer in the sunlight than the true outdoor air temperature. Enjoy

Did you put two AAA batteries in the remote? Use a small phillips to take the cover off of it. Then hold channel on the main unit for three seconds to synch it with the remote.
