Question about Sony KDF-E50A10 50 in. LCD HDTV

Power indicator is flashing

Hello, I've had this tv for a bit more than one year, it was running fine until last week when the screen turned black, and the power indicator started flashing alternatively green and red. I first thought it was a problem with the lamp, so I bought a new one that I received today, and changed it. But it still does not work. The power indicator flashes rapidly 11 times red, 11 times green, then stays green for about one second, and then starts flashing again, in cycles. Does anyone know what this means? Thanks, Roland

Possible error on JB board - diodes D5701, D5703, D9616. Replacing them should be sufficient. Anyway, you should contact the nearest Sony Service. Regards, Arpi

There is a large sand filled resistor on the main board close to where the power cord attaches that cracks. This will stop power until it cools enough to make the connection then heats up rapidly to open it again. It may be worth the trouble if you're handy with a soldering gun and can get the back off the TV. If not then I'd consider getting a flat screen.

The power/standby indicator is flashing a red light and my tv will not turn on.

Flashing of the led light indicates an error code, count how many times it will blink to determine where the fault came from.

Sounds like you need to replace your lamp and the tv will work fine until the new lamp goes out. I have had three lamps since Nov 2006 in mine and I have a notice coming up on my Panasonic saying I need to change the lamp right now. Which is strange, because before there was no warning, it worked fine and then when we went to turn it on again, it just did not work until the lamp was replaced.
