I have a SanDisk fire bird flash drive (4gig), the other day it suddenly stop working. it started to work again but the capacity was gone & it don't want to format anymore

I cant hear sound from my computer

If you are using speakers on a desktop computer, the first thing to try is to test your speakers on a different computer. If they still don;'t work, then it's time to replace them. If they do, then there a few things to do.

You would first have to test the speakers on a different audio port & see if that makes a difference. If it still doesn't work, the next few steps will also apply if you are using a notebook.

Check to make sure that the volume is all the way up and NOT set to mute.

rictutero_18.jpg

After making any adjustments to the volume, try playing any media file & see if the media player volume is also correctly set (cranked up, NOT muted).

(*) In the event that it comes up with an error, read it: it might say something about not having a sound device installed. If it does, then you will have to download the audio drivers from the Manufacturer's website (You will need to type in you computer's Service Tag in the website to skip to the downloads page where you would look for the Audio Drivers category); if not, see below.

If you have Windows Vista or Seven with either HD audio or HDMI-capable display, right-click on the volume icon near the system clock and choose Playback Devices.

Something like this should come up:

rictutero_20.jpg

Make sure to select the CORRECT DEVICE. If your computer is connected to an HDTV, choose HDMI. If it's a notebook computer, choose Digital Output. Otherwise, select SPEAKERS as seen above.

If all else fails, you will have to uninstall then re-install the sound drivers.
In Windows 7 or Vista, click on start & type "Device Manager" in the Start Search box and click on the Device Manager icon that appears in the results list

rictutero_21.jpg

For Windows XP, Click on Start -> Control Panel -> System.
The System Properties window pops up; click on the "Hardware" tab then click on "Device Manager"

rictutero_22.jpg

In the Device Manager window, open the Sound, video and game controllers.
Right-click on your audio device and choose "Uninstall"

rictutero_23.jpg

When prompted, restart your computer. It should work after that. If it does not, it will provide an error message that will determine the actual cause of the problem. You may end up downloading the drivers as detailed in the (*) section above.

If the drivers will NOT install and says there is no compatible hardware, then the audio device has stopped working & will need to be replaced. Any other error would pertain to the operating system and would be a completely different issue.

DMy laptop was taken back to factory settings and I have lost the Icon for the webcam

if you don't have any of your startup discs that came with your laptop than i suggest going to the 'start' menu/ control panel/administrative tools/computer management (double click). you should see an icon on the far left explorer space that reads "device manager". from there try and find your webcam device. if located and you don't see an asterisk "!" on it, you may just need a program to launch it and you can usually find those online by google-ing 'Webcam Software Freeware". if ther is an asterisk, you will need to double click the device and a window will popup detailing the device's status. you should be connected to the internet at this time in order to update or find the driver. once that is complete, you may or may not need a program to launch the webcam.

BAM, there's a snake in mah boots.

Hi I posted a problem last night about my asus eee pc 1005ha... kept rebooting at windows load screen. so I brought a dvd burner to run windows disk & do repar. it would go through everything fine...

Hi.

Solving your problem is just as easy as 2 hour work. not more..

By the time you were having the restarting problems.. all you had to do was to boot from usb cd-rom using Hirenes boot cd 10.

It starts a small intergrated windows. then you would have to go to a menu to stop some un-named startup bugs that cause the restart when Explorer.exe is being executed by windows.

so now, if you have your backups safe, get instruction on the internet on how to make a bootable usb windows vista or 7 Setup. windows seven comes with many drivers for new laptops.

Boot your computer from USB flash disk, run the windows 7 setup and enjoy..

hope this information helps you because it helped me with Acer One netbook..

good luck
