Problems with Playback and No Sound..

Could someone help me with this issue? Whenever I attempt to play back a tape, I get these awful horizontal blue bars going across my LCD display as well as no sound whenever I'm trying to capture video on the pc or just trying to watch it on the camera. A temporary solution that seems to get clear playback (but still no sound) is to remove the tape from the camera and insert it again.. And when I say temporary, I'm talking about less than 15 seconds. Is anyone else having/or had similar problems, if so is there anything that you could tell me that could help me? Regards..

Not to sound barbaric or anything but I had the same problem and all it took was a few knocks on the bottom of my camera to fix it.

It seems you are having a tracking problem. When the tracking is out of sync, you will notice digitized drop out then even audio distorts. It is caused possibly by shift in mechanical system or changed value of electronic components in tracking circuit. It is standard repair cost to remedy this kind of problem. Probably cost you around $125-200 in US repair shops.

VCR Issue with Toshiba SD-V295KU

This may be a bit late but I just ran across these posts. All these problems can be caused by bad tapes. Commercially-made tapes will usually play properly. But home recorded tapes, or very worn tapes, may not play back properly in every VCR. If the VCR isn't getting the right information off the tape for proper playback, it's muting the sound and the screen so you don't see any snow. It's also possible that the VCR heads already need a cleaning. It takes just one worn-out or defective tape to clog up the heads and cause the "no picture" problem, although in this case sound isn't usually affected.

5 Grey Horizontal Lines across the screen during play back and distorted sound.

Someone here recommended on another post to put the lense cap on & videotape the blackness in a quiet room for 5-10 mins. I tried this as a last resort & it worked. When I played back the tape, no more skipping or gray lines. I had 4-5 SOLID gray lines with skipping video & audio in between on every tape I put in. I think the person who helped me solve this said that it was a result of the tape alignment going off. My camera is a Canon zr80 digital camcorder. (Called Canon, they had me reset it & then recommended sending it in).
