Hitachi 42HDT50 42 inch

Does anyone know how to turn off the chanel display on the tv? On the bottom of the screen there is a small rectangular box that contains the chanel number. I can't seem to turn that off. Please help. When I change the aspect setting to expanded it disappears but on the other aspect choices it remains on the screen. Thank you.

You can download the manual from Hitachi here:

All should be covered there.

My hitachi digital hdtv has always had cable hooked to it,and now i have no cable and i cant get the digital chanels to work with the antenna

The set will need a digital box to receive digital channels as it does not have a digital tuner in it--it is a very good set.

Don't have manuel and don't know how to Set up Hitachi VCR

Such a simple job. First check if the cables are connecred properly
1. Audio OUT from VCR to AUDIO IN of TV.
2. Video OUT from VCR to VIDEO IN of TV

Then switch the TV ON. Select 'Video' on the TV/Video
selection button on the TV's remote control.
Your TV screen will show a display like 'Video' or 'AV'
Play a cassette and you should be able to see the picture...
Happy Viewing.

HITACHI 65XWX20B - How to disassemble the cabinet?

The 65XWX20B comes apart in 2 pieces - there is a top half and a bottom half.

- The bottom half houses all of the electronics, projection lenses, etc. It is very heavy and should be moved with care.

- The top half is basically just the screen.

I have moved this Television multiple times, even up and down from a 3rd floor apartment!

- First remove the screws holding the top and the bottom, the important ones are on the sides of the TV.

- This is important, I suggest 3 people do this part: Slowly lift the top away from the bottom half of the TV, but -not- very far. There is small wiring harness that that attaches the top of the TV to the bottom to a circuit board. This must be unplugged by one person while the other 2 hold the top half of the TV slightly above the bottom half. Note carefully where this plugs in so that you can reassemble easily.

- Once this is disconnected the TV is much easier to move, although still quite heavy and bulky. Do not turn the TV on its side - keep it upright while moving.

Reverse this process to put it back together.

Once you have done it once it is quite easy.

Good luck.

PLASMA DISPLAY STARTING UP. PLEASE WAIT

Un plug the power to the Plasma Screen and also to the Media Receiver for ten minutes. Disconnect the off the air antennas both A and B. After ten minutes plug in the plasma screen then the media receiver and turn on wi the remote control. You should now be back in operation. I was.
Also It may not be a bad digital tuner. The TV Guide feature is active even when the zip code is set to all 0s so if you have an over the air antenna attached the TV will look for the TV Guide info and if it can not find it because of a weak signal or the chanel it is tuned to does not carry that information the TV thinks that tuner does not work which triggers the 12 flashes. Also on power up the gray box with the waring message "Plasma Display Starting Up, Please Wait" appears and the screen is blank.
