Question about HP PSC 1510 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Print Cartrige Error

I recently rec'd an HP 1510 All-in-one printer from a friend. It had been in storage for about a year and it was supposedly working okay when it was taken out of service. When I rec'd it, the old ink cartridges were still installed. The first time I plugged it in, the "Check Print Cartridge" light started blinking as well as the "Black" light in the "Start Copy" area. In addition to this, an "E" appeared next to the "Copies" button. I bought new HP cartridges and installed them and I did a "clean" installation of the software. The problem persisted. A dialog box appeared after software installation that stated "Print Cartridge Error". No test sheet printed after cartridge installation,which it would do normally. The only way I could get anything to print was to hold down the "Cancel/Resume" button and then push the "Color" button in the "Start Copy" area. This was suggested in the owner's manual and a "Self Test Report" was generated. All the printing, both black and color, appeared to be okay. Immediately after this printed, no lights were flashing and everything appeared normal, but about 15-20 seconds later, the flashing returned to the original pattern. I uninstalled and rewinstalled the software, I cleaned the contacts even though the cartriges were new and made sure that they were installed properly. The system diagnostics indicate that the black cartridge is defective and I even took it back to the office supply and had it replaced in case the first oneI bought was, in fact, defective. This gave me no change from the previous condition. So now I've done everything suggested in the on-line "Help" area and the manual to no avail. I'm really hoping someone out there has a helpful suggestion to get me through this problem.

    After communicating extensively with HP "Help",
    It was determined that the printer needed "servicing" by an HP authorized service
    facility. The closest one wanted $99.99 just to look at it--more than the printer was worth.
    After learning this, it went into the Dumpster.
    As to the suggestion about dried out cartridges, new ones had been installed.

    lights flash Check Paper-Check Print Cartridege and Black,E on copies,replaced ink with HP 94,paper is full no change in printer.... still will not Print

    I have the same problem with the blinking cartridge lights, E display, etc. And have replaced recently installed cartridges with completely new ones; and still same problem persists. Any updates from HP on a resolution for this?

    i have the same problem too...except instead of the "black" light blinking it's the "color" light. :( so is there really no solution?

They probably are dried up if they were in storage

Stop buying HP printer... I have used 3 hp psc PRINTERS and all of them died on me. The latest is the PSC1510. Buy Canon instead. They are faster and more reliable. tq

SOURCE: black ink leaking in printer

Guess you could try another cart, but first have a good look to make sure nothing is preventing it from seating correctly, and that seals look OK

Ink cartrige problem

This is error is common after a cartridge is refilled, in most cases it's because of "bad refill" and we can also say "dead cartridge". If possible, Please try the cartridge on another printer or try your printer with another cartridge. (i hope you know what tri color mieans = the color cartridge). Make sure the cartridge is not overflowing or leaking. Clean if possible, and never touch the print head, if you ever did so there's no way to make it work again. Hope this helps. Yes. The printer won't operate without both cartridges installed, even if one is empty.

Print quality

Did you try the clean head function and examinte the test result. Sometimes the inks will stick on the connnection pad inside the printer. If this happens, you have to take out the cartrige and clean the contacts on the pcb. Try other ink cartrige and see if the problems stick to one ink cartrige or caused by hardware failure on printer.

HP PSC 1510 Vista issues

what happens whenever you are trying to scan.... any error message or any error number?

try scanning from the printer to the computer using the scan to option on the front panel of the printer.

try scanning from hp solution center installed in your computer.

try scanning from mspaint. to do so, open paint and click on "file-->from scanners and camera".

how did you installed the driver. have you got the correct cd to install the printer in windows vista???

if not that may be the problem. the printer can print and copy well as you are having the drivers which will work in win vista. but for the scanning functionality you need to get the cd to install the printer in windows vista. you can download it online.

HP 1510 - Photo Paper Jams

Hi, try using HP brand photo paper, HP makes their special photo printers and special photo paper for them.
The surface of the back of the HP's paper is rough, like sandpaper to avoid the paper being jammed in the cheap loading mechanism of their actual printers.
