We are trying to set up a refurbished lionel train set. We have the copper wires in place and the lockon connected to the tracks but we cannot get the transformer power to connect to the train power.
Answer a number of questions:
Is the tranformer power adequate for the train and is it a working tranformer?
Will the train run by connecting the wires directly to the two points of the train (wheels and center rail connector)?
Are the tracks new?
Is the lockon new?

Bad connections, wires to/from the transformer, or maybe a real dirty track.
try spraying a very small amount of CRC [brand ) 226 it is better than any contact cleaner on the market. do not get it on the rubber traction wheels on the engine. If you do, wash off with alcohol using a cotton swab on the rubber band on the traction wheel....
check the voltage on the transformer with a multi meter should be 3 to 14 volts .
if that is ok, ckeck voltage on the rails, if that is ok, it is the switch unit on the engine. Again, find the switch, with a spray tube that came with the CRC 226, spray a small amount og the contact area[ this is called an "e-unit switch " and are 90% of the electrical source problems on the older engines,,BUT all are repairable !!!!

Was the name of the gospel song sung my Lionel Ritchie entitled Jesus Is Mine?
These engines have not been operated for over five years, they respond to TMMC Railsounds but will not move, I tried to lubricate the gears, but cannot move the wheels.
lionel transformer green light flashes, train doesn't move
