No display symptom is due to ccd chip failure or a board problem. If it is still under repair warranty, ship it back ASAP. A damaged electronic component for this model may be replaced by a trained tech only. Good Luck.

I dropped my Canon PowerShot SD750. the lens comes out half way

Sorry, but there is no DIY fix for the lens problem, and any attempts at homebrew repair will likely worsen the problem. The camera needs professional repair, so I suggest that you take it to a camera shop (not the camera department at a large store) or contact Canon customer service via the Canon.com web site. Be sure to get a firm price before committing to repairs -- the cost to fix it may be close to the price of a new camera, and repairs typically only carry a 30-day warranty.

My Canon S2 IS works fine except the display will not provide picture viewing capability when I turn the camera on for picture taking. It will display photos from the memory card. The viewer is black for...

Your camera has the know issue of Stuck shutter, whichhappens after some time (weeks or months) thata camera is notused.

Unfortunately the repair of it requires a complete disassembly of the camera, including the lens, fix it, and then put back together everything.

Definitely requires th skills, tools and experience to do it, so it's recommended that a professional camera repair center is performing this type of repair.

If you look for a reliable and low cost repair service for it, you can look in ebay for such repair services.

Example, look for seller ID Great_items_2004 or with the keywords "Shutter black S2".

My screen went black after i took a picture

It's very possible that the problem is that the shutter is stuck, which is a known Canon issue on the powershot cameras, mainly on the S2 and S3 models, which it happens after some time (weeks or months) thata camera is not used.

Unfortunately the repair of it requires a complete disassembly of the camera, including the lens, fix it, and then put back together everything.

Canon S2 powershot. Camera turns on but no pictures show up and cannot see through the viewfinder...it is black. Menus all work. What can we try?

First thing to try is that you didn't accidentally turn off the LCD screen. Turn on the camera, and press the bottom DISP on the back of your camera.

If that didn't work, the next thing to try is to take a picture while the viewfinder is black. Download the picture to your computer, and view it on the computer's monitor. Does this picture also show up as black. If so, then the camera's CCD imager has likely failed, requiring professional camera service to be repaired. If your camera was an S1 IS, Canon would fix this for free:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=PgComSmModDisplayAct&fcategoryid=225&modelid=13390&keycode=2112&id=29819

Unfortunately the S2 IS is not on the advisory list. If you wish to inquire of professional repair from Canon, please call 1-800-OK-CANON.

No pitcure

It sounds like your shutter has become stuck closed. Normally the shutter stays open while you compose the pictures and then closes when you hit the button to take the picture allowing the image sensor to record what it saw at that moment. If it stays closed you will not see any image at all, but the normal icons and text on your camera's display will still show. The same symptoms can also be caused by a failed image sensor, although this is less common. Freeing a stuck shutter requires disassembly of the camera and lens assembly. Check with your manufacturer for recalls and/or warranty support. If they cannot help you for free there are repair providers online who can work on your camera. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

Blank LCD screen on shooting mode, but does show settings. Will not take pictures. Replaying mode works, shows pictures taken before screen went blank. New batteries. What is going on??? Is it fixable?

Thanks for that link, I will keep it handy! Be careful however, because the exact same symptom can be caused by a stuck shutter. To tell if it is a stuck shutter follow these steps: 1. Turn off the flash!! 2. Look down into the lens. 3. Take a picture. Did you see anything change? The opening at the center should be momentarily covered by a matte black shield. If you take a picture and see no change inside the lens then the shutter is stuck closed or open. If Canon finds your shutter to be stuck and not a CCD failure, the repair will not be free.. very not free. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
