Tv has occasional black outs but more importantly, it shuts off and there is a red flashing light instead of the green 'on light'. The tv does not respond to remote/manual control when this happens and the only temporary solution is unplugging it from the electric source (socket) for about a minute. What do I do?
It sounds like you have a power supply problem. The power supply is going into "shut-down". When this happens you have to un-plug the set to allow the charge to "bleed off" from the power supply in order for it to try to re- start. You may have a loose connection or a component getting hot causing your problem. It's difficult to exactly tell what is happening without making tests in the circuits. Your best bet is to have it checked by a technician. Stargazer

Thanks stargazer. I have called a technician to come pick up the set. I'll let you know how it turns out.
