I am trying to install hp officejet 5510 on my new computer. It is telling to contact my system administrator. The printer was working fine, the fax is not currently hookedup, I would like to use the scanner function but it told me that it was not yet installed on my computer

Since you don't have the setup disc for this printer the only way to install it now to your computer without it is to download the printer software.
This is the link for the printer software that you need, so you just need to download it and then after that run the setup for the printer and follow the setup wizard, because it will tell you exactly what to do in installing the printer.

You need to inspect and clean the narrow glass and the white reference bar that sits above the narrow glass. Scratches, whiteout, and debris will cause the lines on scanned documents.

I had the same problems some months ago. I only solved it when I deleted the printer settings from my computer and reinstalled the software, making sure that I installed all the components from the CD. Also make sure that the printer is on fax default setting when you are using it as fax. You can check this by going to My Computer then Control Panel, then choose Printers and Other Hardware then choose Printers and Faxes. You can then set as default hp Officejet 5500 series fax. Hope these suggestions help.

Do you have a DIGITAL phone service like Vonage?

Fax machines are ANALOG devices and will not work reliably on a DIGITAL phone line..

Reinstall the drivers. You can find them on HP's site.

The idea is to get Vista to revognise older software/systems
You shoulf be able to select XP/98 etc.,

this error tell us that you are not logged in with full admin rights on your computer to install software and driver package, and it also sounds like you are trying to start software install using the "run command"

There is nothing wrong with printer but you do seem to be having trouble loading the required software and driver package on your p.c.

Are you also using new Vista software/driver package for your HP OJ 4215 cause the one that came with it maybe XP.

Go to HP and download correct package, AND log on as administrator with FULL priveledges, your username (normal login) may not, from the looks of this.

what operating system are you using
and what software are you using for print drivers
