Question about Panasonic PT-51G44 51" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Vertical size The vertical size on my tv is erratic. It gets "over-sized" at random times and it is happening more frequently. Trying to find a schematic for a tv's circuit board seems to be nearly impossible. Any ideas on why this would happen? I'm no tv repairman, but I repair circuit boards everyday fro a living. TV repair is new to me. I'm certain there must be an IC that controls vertical size, but I have no idea which one. Any ideas? Know of any way to get a schematic for this TV?? Thanks.

The Model is Panasonic PT-51G44. I have replaced the vertical IC with some help from Panasonic's tech team. This didn't help. A week after, the vertical problem became the typical tiny line across the screen. What I really need is the schematic. I could not find it on the website Snakehead mentioned.

Make checks on your vertical it could be getting too much voltage replace it along with some cap around that are not filtering the voltage to the ic.because it have cause damage to your vertical change all related components in that circuit also check the related circuits.you can get a schematic for your set at www.samsphotofact.com good luck

Good day.

Refering to to mr walts inquiry and if it is, maybe you are having some issues in your vertical circuitry. It may be loose that it needs to be resoldered and other filter capacitors within the vertical section.

Tv image

Hello bouloulou, Well let me tell you what you have is a loss of Vertical Linearity. This could be cause by a power supply issue or by inproper filtering of the dc voltage used to supply the vertical section of the TV. There used to be a control which allowed you to adjust this along with Vertical Size which controled the bottom of the screen. These days the signal processor chip takes care of this along with a few capacitors. I woould suggest that if you do not have a background in electronics that you take the set to a shop for repairs, If you do have a background in electronics, get a schematic for this set and the use your multimeter set to DC volts to measure the DC levels in the vertical section of the TV. Also you will need an oscilloscope to measure the ripple voltage on the DC power supply the schematic will show you how much ripple is allowed. I hope this helps. Thank you, Shuttle83

Cable channels fuzz out

I think you have a bad connection in the tuner. The tuner is what decides what channel you get. It's a small box inside your tv about the size of a pack of cigarettes. These have been known to develop loose connections or just go bad. Some are pretty expensive depending on the type set you have. Since your set is older and you want it fixed you'd better get an estimae first. Stargazer

Sansui - BOTTOM OF SCREEN CUT OFF

Your problem is not a vertical alighnment or size adjustment. No, Im sorry to say its the old vertical output IC and /or the small capacitors around the ic and in the vertical circuit. If you dont have the right tools, like a soldering iron a multimeter know how to read a schematic diagram, then you should seek out a repair person to assist you in this repair.
