Cameras come along with software cd which will help you acquire the images from camera onto pc. The software installation is easy and just a 1 time process. Next time onwards, you can just connect your camera through a USB cable and start the camera, the software gets started automatically recognising the camera and uploading pictures and videos to your pc. Picasa from Google can do the same task if you don't find the software cd which came along with your camera.
I had a similar problem recently - the computer wasn't even recognising that it was plugged in. I eventually took the battery out and charged it up, then later it worked perfectly. I hope this is helpful to you.
I have the original install disk for Telefunken TDC-3000.
It has the drivers for Windows 98/2000/Me/XP.
Compressed, it is about 11 M. Nero disk Image about 18 M.
The CD itself is 15.2 M.
The compressed version is self extracting.
If you are able to accept an Email of that size, I can send it to you.
Do you have to switch the camera on manually?, as it may just be indicating that it is connected to pc.
Try completely uninstalling the software and drivers.
Disconnect camera and re install drivers, then try connecting to a different usb port.
Check in my computer to see if the camera comes up as a storage disk.
