If you are going to open the camera and solder the switch, then you should be able to replace it.
The problem may also be with the card cover. The extension on the cover that contacts the switch may be worn and not fully depressing the switch.

either get a card reader to hook up to your usb on your computer this is easiest and dont have to download a driver for your camera if you dont have a disk. Or just get a usb for your camera and download them.

There is usually a small tongue on the card cover that engages either a switch or some other device to detect if the cover is open. Check that it is not broken or that the sensor is not damaged etc. Hope this helps...
The flash is malfunctioning and causing the camera to not work, the flashing lights in the viewfinder is the camera indicating the malfunction. Most likely it is a board that needs repair and that'll cost a flat rate minimum $160 from OLY.
