Are you using the correct cable to go from camera to your tv? One with audio jacks as well as video? Most cables have the mini usb on the camera end and a red/white and yellow RCA jack on the other end to hook up to a tv. If it goes to a computer the cable should look like a mini usb and a regular usb on the other end.

Hi. Yes there should be sound with video because its essentially acting as a video camera when in movie/video mode. If you can see a small hole on the front of the camera facing the same direction as the lense, that would be the microphone. Sometimes it even says "mic" at the hole or even may show a picture of a microphone.

SOURCE: can't hear audio on video playback (neither direct from camera nor from pc)

This is because the camera is not capable to record the sound. The camera was not designed with any audio speakers to be able to record and playback sound recorded during movie mode.

SOURCE: Cybershot dsc-w70 stuck in video mode

Ok! I've searched and searched, so hopefully this will help you all out.

If the videos are very slow moving, you're in multi burst mode. Simple fix, actually...

Press menu button that's below the dial selector. There should be two small options near the bottom of the screen "mode" and the little suitcase.

Go into mode and make sure that Normal is selected. Multi Burst is actually a 16 frame per second function good for sports. It shows as a slow motion video on the camera and a sort of collage on your computer.

Hope this helps. :)

SONY DSC-S40 RESET IT SELF.

If you have already cleaned the lens gears and the issue persists, it is possible that the lens electric motor is not working properly. You can try resetting the camera to see if it helps. Here are the steps to reset the Sony DSC-S40:
  1. Turn off the camera and remove the batteries.
  2. Wait for a few minutes before reinserting the batteries.
  3. Turn on the camera and see if it works.

My sound on video's

It is possible that it's a codec problem, try and see what the video format of your camera video is and it's sound format, then go download some codecs appropriate for the video and the sound will play again...
