Westinghouse L1916HW Monitor On-Screen Display keys malfunction

I've recently purchased the L1916HW monitor, everything about it is great. The reviews did mention overly sensitive OSD keys...but this monitor is just a little to sensitive. The keys would act as if they were pushed/touched on their own. 20:1 times the power of the screen would go off, first I thought it was a bad screen, but the other 5% of the time, the menu screen popped up. This is when I found out, it's the OSD keys.

Any way to fix overly sensitive keys? Or would this be a hardware problem of the touchpad which would make me have to return this monitor?

Thanks,
Dustin

Yes I do. I received this monitor for Christmas and love it. But now my control pad just is not there any more, no response whatsoever. I can't shut my monitor down unless I turn off my computer and then unplug it. This is nuts. I can find nothing online to help except a lot of people with the same problem!

Hi!! I have a Westinghouse L1916HW 19" DVI LCD 2ms

One possibility is that it may have dying power supply which may be putting out unstable DC which can cause a lot of strange symptoms.

Bad caps are real common problems in all brands of the monitors as you can see in my albums.
Westinghouse monitors are cheaply made to start with.

Have the L1916HW monitor and it has started popping up the menu screen randomly, and as of today it has turned itself off twice.

today is our locky day!! I found the answer, please take a look on this web http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Westinghouse L1916HW/?action=view ****************************************************** http://www.aplusperfect.com/articles/lcd_capacitor_repair How-To Repair a Desktop LCD with Bad Capacitors January 17, 2008 By Jeremy Brock
Desktop LCD monitors fail for a variety of reasons, the most common being bad electrolytic capacitors. If you are willing to invest the time you can fix your LCD for a few dollars in parts. For this demonstration I'm using an IBM ThinkVision 6636-AB1 however the same techniques apply to most desktop LCD Monitors.

Hello i have a 19'' white westinghouse lcd computer monitor and it all white, is there anything i can do, i have already checked the green board and capacitators and what not and eveything tested fine, is...

chapp29, You didn't tell me the brand name of the electrolytic filter capacitors that are on your monitors "switch-mode-power-supply / cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp-ballast" circuit board. How did you measure (check) the capacitors? Are any of the rubber seals pushed out of the bottom of any capacitors? What is the "date of manufacture" of this unit? Will L1916HW work connected to a different "known-good" pc? Will "known-good" monitor work ok when connected to your pc? 12fixlouie

I have a westinghouse monitor L1916hw and my monitor was fine last night but this morn when I woke up the lighting was flickering and then went black and when I turned it off and back on it will stay lit...

Get in the habbit of turning off LCD monitors when not in use. First, save electric. Second, save your monitor as LCD will burn up faster than a CRT. As for your problem, I would assume it's burning out and/or about to burn out...overheating. I would shut the entire system down, let is sit for 5 minutes and reboot everything. If it still fails to strike properly, it is probably toast.

Color is very washed out, contrast very bad even after adjusting. Very hard to see lines. Basically the screen is all washed out!

You can try going into the display functions using the menu buttons and performing a factory reset. Good luck.

I just rebuilt my system, and I don't have a CD to install the monitor

Usually the monitor manufacturer has a support section on their web site with driver downloads.

The monitor turns on briefly humms and then turns off. Any ideas? Westinghouse L1916hw

Sounds like a bad inverter. Does the screen still show that the power is on? If so, then shine a bright light at it. If you can still see the image, then you have your answer.
