See the steps and eliminate short circuit use the common sense: God bless you
No Lights or Power, Unit seems Dead First check is the main fuse of the unit. On countertop units, you will need to take the shell off. The fuse will be close to where the cord comes through into the unit. OTR units, this main fuse is usually behind the control panel or possibly behind the vent. Usually the fuse is obvious if blown, otherwise test with an OHM meter, if open, replace fuse.
Some brands will also have a thermal cut-off fuse in the incoming voltage line to the control board. Older Maytags and Samsungs have this fuse in it. This thermostat looking fuse is usually above the oven cavity somewhere under the outside shell. Sometimes you can get to it through the vent of OTR models. Test with an OHM meter, replace if open.

However if after replace the fuse the problem remain, you must test: a) power cord for short b) outlet wall for ground improperly c) HV transformer faulty d) Rectifier HV faulty e) Magnetron faulty. d) power supply faulty replace or repair filter diode, resistor. etc Or call some experimented service tech for troubleshooting.

How to heat cooked potatoes for mashed potatoes

hi Judy.
Put in the large pot as you peel and slice so they don't turn brown. Be sure water covers the potatoes by 2 inches, on medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Reduce to medium-low heat, cook the potatoes for 20 minutes until the potatoes are soft and fork tender. Turn off the heat, and drain well in a colander.24 Nov 2015

Hi, we have a Bosch HMT8656GB built-in microwave, and the other night (shortly after microwaving several potatoes), it shorted out and tripped the main fuse for the kitchen sockets. We've isolated it to...

Confirm that the receptacle where the microwave is plugged in is not faulty by plugging something else in the recepticle and seeing if it works or if the fuse blows. Check the power cord of the microwave for broken, frayed wires. Also check the bulb socket for broken wires. It may or may not be worth the cost of repair, depending on the repair cost verses a new microwave. There are repair parts available.

This is now the 3rd GE to die on me in 10 years. Model is PEB2060dm1ww. Its a built in microwave Last night my soon cooks his dinner OK. When my wife went to cook her artichoke.. all seemed fine as the...

if out of warranty you can try a simple "fix" . some microwaves are made with a simple fuse on the inside of casing- should be able to remove cover with 4-6 screws and then locate fuse- DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE! If in doubt replace the whole thing.

PS- if dusty inside ,use canned air(for computers or cameras)

Put a potato in microwave it caught on fire dish broke no power to the microwave...did I kill it for good or is there a reset button on it...the microwave in build into my cabinets back of microwave is...

When cooking a potato in the microwave Without puncturing it with a fork... it definitively EXPLODS braking the CAROUSSEL PLATEAU and probably damaging some delicate electronics inside, (you have to pearce the potato with a fork to let steem out when cooking) if you are lucky it could be just a blown fuse inside, have it checked by a proffessional (there is normally no reset for a microwave oven exception maiby for the control panel)

Good luck!

I was cooking 4 potatoes for 14 minutes then put in frozen corn, started the microwave oven again and everything shut down.is there an internal fuse or breaker? or is it time for a new one.

Many of these ovens have either a humidity sensor or oven cavity sensor that will shut the oven down if the internal oven cavity humidity or temperature exceed a certain level. Baked potatoes are often a culprit as they retain a good amount of heat and generate humidity when they cook. In most cases, allowing the oven to cool down with the door open for about half an hour will restore operation.

However, there is also a thermal cut-out (TCO) on some models that will trip if the internal temperature of the oven cavity gets too hot. If the TCO trips, it must be replaced.

Since you posted no Brand Name of Model Number, I do not know how your oven is configured. If you post back with this information, I can verify and may be able to diagnose a cause of your problem.

NEFF MICROWAVE OVEN BLOWS 10A INTERNAL FUSE

We had the same problem, got Neff service engineer to come out after taking out insurance. He said the megatron cracks which is a large magnet and causes the fuse board to blow and needs to be replaced. This occurs through lack of ventilation on instalation. Total cost £370 may as well get a new one. Plus our insurance wouldn't pay the cost and cancelled the insurance policy.

GE SpaceMaker JVM140001 just quit

Same thing happened to our unit. My wife had started cooking potatoes and we left house for an hour. Came back and unit was dead, nothing worked. Verified power @ plug. Unplugged, pulled control panel and checked fuse which is mounted @ top of circuit board (will now refer to as CB), back side of interface panel. It passed continuity test. Inspected wiring and was all intact, no sign of burn thru. Varistor visual also looked good, no discoloration or burns. Removed (5) fasteners that hold CB to interface and inspected back side. Noted minor "blackening" @ pin location #1 of the (5) pin plug immediately beneath fuse. Resoldered because connection looked poor. Plugged back in and tested, all features worked correctly!

Overcooked potato overcooked the microwave

The magnetron probably overheated, blowing the thermal cutout / thermal fuse / thermostat mounted on it.

Russell hobs microwave oven

I am a recently retired appliance engineer of 20 years, microwaves are not normally things worked on yourself, i would be reluctant to help normally but yes there is an internal fuse ( a special quick blow type )just inside where the wire enters the cabinet on a small circuit board, if a replacement is needed it must be exact match bought from an electronic shop, microwaves are dangerous they store powerful electric and can still shock after removing the plug, if the replacement fuse blows, there is a fault elsewhere, and i do not recommend further self repair, work with safety
