Canon ip 3500 7 flashes of orange

I fitted 4 new Canon ink tanks to my iP3500 printer - 12 months & 2 weeks old! and it is flashing 7 times orange at me saying that there is 2 carts the same colour fitted. There is not! What can I do to over ride my printers dead brain?

    No, that didn't work.
I also tried putting the 4 old carts back in it, but got the same message. I used a cotton bud lightly sprayed with windex to clean the fine bits of brass that contact the chips on the carts, same message still. A new printer is cheaper than 4 new carts believe it or not! So if I have not got this stupid thing fixed by then I will buy a new one. But I still don't like a machine to beat me!

I have a canon ip 3500. It stopped in the middle of a printing job. The light is flashing green alternating with orange. The ink cartridges seem to be jammed on the left side of the printer and will...

come back to us with the exact sequence of the flashing lights as they are the error code to what has happened. Its possible that one of the ink tanks locks has popped open and is fouling the main cover of the machine.

Reset. Orange light blinks several times. Then Green. Then orange several times, then... on and on. Cannot reset. All ink cartridges have ink.

count the number of orange flashes in between the green light. two flashes = out of paper, 3=paper jam, 4=empty ink tank, 6=print head not installed, 7=print head defective, 8=waste ink tank is almost full

Tank absorber full and lights blinking

The POWER Lamp Flashes Orange Eight flashes: Waste ink tank almost full
The printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink tank is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, contact a Canon service representative.

Note
Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the waste ink tank becomes completely full, printing will no longer be possible.

Printer Not Responding, 7 orange flashes

Don't replace the print head soooo fast...

Take the print head out first and clean the gold contacts...
I used a very fine sandpaper like emery cloth...

You might get 4 yellow blinks after that.
That is because the printhead was turned upside down to clean and the ink looked low and/or out.

Just wait a few minutes after cleaning and reset...
Mine worked fine after that.... smile....

Canon ip4000 flashing 12 times

Hi there,

It sounds like the cartridge or one of the tanks may not be properly seated.
Pull out and then reinsert the ink tanks. Make sure they CLICK in firmly. Hold down the RESUME button for 5 seconds.

Helpful links:

Click here for the Canon iP4000 cartridge replacement page.

Click here for info on reseating tanks.

Click here for the correct order of the ink tanks

Hope this helps.

Canon ip4000 flashing 12 times

For 11 orange flashes (Canon doesn't list 12) Canon says its an automatic print head alignment error: -make sure ink tanks are snapped in correctly http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SuprtKnowledgeBaseAct&fcategoryid=184&modelid=10438 -place 8.5 x 11 paper in the automatic sheet feeder, anything smaller will cause this error. -Remove the printer from strong light; apparently a sensor in the paper output slot can be affected. -Also you said you replaced all the cartridges with new ones, were the new from HP? If not I would definitely try replacing them all.
