My wife and I have just bought a new house. There is a Belling double oven which must be at least 20 years old. When I turn the main oven on, the light goes on inside, and smoke comes into the oven from the back. It looks like the heating element is working, but the fan certainly is not.
How can I fix the fan?

sometimes there is a switch that operates when the door is opened or closed causes the fan to stop when the door opens. The switch is normally mounted at a door hinge, or hinge bracket.might have to remove a panal to get to it
If its less than a year old then call belling as it sounds like the thermostat for the cooling fan is faulty. Its designed to cut the cooling fan in at around 65 degrees celsius to protect electronics.
Have same problem, I am repairing our 648HM double oven. Top oven overheats. I am an electronics engineer. I found that top oven fan has failed, this is the first thing to replace. The grill element also failed which maybe due to the overheating oven. NIGEL
If the fan is working o/k, then there is little doubt that the oven element has failed.
This is quite common with fan assisted ovens.
The element is usually located at the rear of the oven compartment behind a removeable cover.
You need to fit a new oven element.
This is located at the rear of the oven behind a removeable cover, where the fan is
It is a fairly straightforward job to replace.
Hope trhis helps with your problem.
On my Belling it was the oven multi function switch that was faulty. I replaced it - carefully (lots of coloured wires) and it works fine now. Hope this helps
Providing the oven is not more than 10 years old, then there, sholud be no prob obtaining a new door glass.

If the element was gone completely then the oven would not heat up at all. If the element blew while the oven was on then that would explain why it was warm. Elements cost between £20-£40, plus any labour costs. You can find this out when you contact the repair shop. Another thing to consider though is that it could be the thermostat, which controls the heat. These cost from around £25 upwards again you would need to confirm this with the repair shop. All in all I think you are looking between £50 - £80 to get it repaired.
