Question about Palm Treo 650 Handheld

Recieving some text messages but not all

A few months ago my treo 650 was only recieving about half of the text messages being sent. The text message icon was also staying on regardless of whether or not I had any new text messages. I had tried a soft reset and the phone company had tried a few things as well. The only thing they could come up with was that third party applications were causing the text messages to come in intermittantly. I had to do a factory reset and re-enter everything. Now the same thing has started to happen again. Is this the only solution to fix it again? Traci

You might want to have to do a hard or zero reset mainly because you have a bug thaqt is blocking your sms to come in

You have to check for a firmware update for your phone. It may be a bug in your BIOS.

My SMS messages don't show when i recieved them, just the date!

there is a sprint sms timestamp patch that you can download on to your phone that'll show the time of an incoming message. It works fine on my treo pro.

Unlocked Treo 650 wont send text messages

I have the same problem using an unlocked Treo 650 on O2(UK).
One thing you need to do is make sure that the Message Centre Number is set correctly for the SIM network you are using. Get the MCN from the internet, then on the Treo Messaging > Menu > Options > Preferences > Network > Manual > Edit to check/set the MCN.

I recieve text messages fine but cannot send out. I type in and hit send but they do not go anywhere but do not get error message. Also I have a few blank text messages that won't delete

Friend, there is something wrong in your network.contact your network provider to solve the line problem. If the message cannot be deleted then there is something happened in your memory due to line failure thats why it cannot delete. try to free up your memory.

Phone wont send or recieve txts

On every phone there are settings that can stop you sending texts. However all phones should still receive texts even if all the settings were changed. As the text message is directed to you mobile number you should still be receiving?
When you compose your text and select contact does the phone move them to the out/sent box?
Settings to check for sending are your 'message centre number' (your network provider can supply and they are normally different for pay monthly and pay & go) 'Message sent as' should be 'text' (not fax or email etc).
Text problems are common where people change or delete digits from the message centre number by mistake.
If you cannot receive texts i would recommend speaking to your provider for help as it may be your account details at their end? (beyond your control). Hope that helps?

Not receiving some of my text messages

I also have a Treo 650 that works flawlessly. I'm on AT&T and sometimes a message gets delayed but I don't think I've ever missed a message. I would believe it is the verizon network. It could also be effected by sunspots and the part of the world you are in.

good luck

Palm Treo Rebooting After send an Text/SMS

Hello, hope it helps (from http://www.chaddickerson.com/blog/2006/05/19/what-to-do-when-sending-an-sms-makes-your-treo-650-reboot/)

The application that causes the reboot varies, but it’s always the same error related to the message store. Here’s how you fix it (and beware — this deletes all the text messages on your device!):
  1. If you don’t already have it, you need to download and install FileZ on your Treo. All this does is give you access to all the files on the Palm OS filesystem. This is a tool that must be used very carefully, since you can move, copy, and delete any files on the Treo, even ones you didn’t know were there. It’s one of the most useful Treo utilities you can have.
  2. Run FileZ on your phone and choose “View and Edit Files.” In the next screen, you should see “Internal” under Filename. It might also say “ROM.” If you have an SD Card, you should also see “External” or “SD Card.”
  3. Click on the little wedge beside “Internal” to expand the list of files on your Treo.
  4. Find Messages Database and delete it (you do this by checking it, choosing “Details,” and then clicking “Delete”)

Buttons not working properly

hi dear

BACK UP your Treo 650 software and data BEFORE doing the following.

1. RESET the Treo 650 back to default set by holding power buttom following by reset the treo.

2. There is a way to reset the voltage regulator in the Treo ; believe is by holding the RESET for > 3 seconds. Believe need to take out the battery in out during this process. Can't recalled the correct steps. This could could reset the Treo's power regulator.

3. TRY reinstall your palm software with minimun software or 3rd parties one, this software could be running in the back ground which drain the battery.

Try above steps might help.

Mine also got the same problem last two weeks, my treo could felt there is kind warm sensation if it took out from my waist pouch after leaving it for sometime on the table. BTW, the battery could felt quite warm also.

If yours also behave the same which I believed the Treo got some kind of contact problem which draw more power then usually does.

Now, mine got no more warm sensetion after carry out above steps. It gets better as Compared to last two weeks ago BUT not that good as compared previously when it can last 3~4 days after a full charge.

Good luck
