Question about Kenmore Refrigerators
I realize this is the wrong model number but I looked and I can't find the one I have. I have a Kenmore model 57092 side by side refrigerator with water and ice dispenser. The ice dispenser is working fine. The water will dispense for a while once I take the filter off and then refit it. If I wait a minute or so no water will flow. When I loosen the filter again there is a escape of air like pressure has built up. Any help?
A couple things to check here. First see if there is ice in the tray. If so chances are the ice maker will need to be replaced however these are very reliable ice makers. If no ice in the tray pull up on the ejector blade (don't worry you won't break it) turn clockwise to start the ice maker thru a cycle. The ejector blade is the long white bar with fingers on it that run the length of the tray. Once it completes a cycle it should fill with water. If no water then either the fill tube is frozen over and will need to be defrosted or the water valve is bad.

Either your water tank in the fridge froze up, the waterline that goes up the freezer door from the bottom hinge froze, or the switch that your glass hits is damaged. Do you hear any humming or noises when you put your glass up to get water?

What you describe was a common problem with this model and one that still pops up. Your refrig *might* qualify for an upgrade under terms of a program GE initiated a few years ago. Call 800-432-2737 first it might save you a service call
