Stereo/mono on iLo 42 screen tv

To change the menu language of the TV using the remote:

Display the menu screen.
• Press [MENU].
6 menu items will be displayed. The third item will be ENG/ESP/FRA

Select "ENG/ESP/FRA".
• Using [CH up / CH down] buttons, select "[ENG]/ESP/FRA".

Every time you press [VOL up / VOL down] buttons, the language
will be advance to the next. Select the language. When ENG is selected, exit by pressing [MENU]

If you are trying to change the AUDIO of the TV, simply press the [AUDIO] button on the remote. This will advance the selection between MAIN, SAP and MONO. MAIN is the native language of the program (often in stereo), SAP is "secondary audio program" - which is usually a second language, but may be an audio source not related to the picture at all. MONO is monophonic, or a single sound source that is the result of combining the LEFT and RIGHT stereo channels to one output or speaker. This selection is often a downgraded version of the stereo output provided by the MAIN audio selection - but may be useful under certain conditions.

There are only two boards. Master - 6632L-0470A REV 1.3 and Slave - 6632L-0471A Rev 1.3

Apparently the TVGOS (TV Guide On Screen) signal on CBS stations (since the 6/12/09 digital changeover) can cause the sound to be missing on those channels. Use the SAP button on the remote to page through the SAP options. When you return to the normal setting the sound will be restored. This problem should not occur again unless the SAP button is pressed.

so for us not using cable for this, what do we do? even plugging a game console into this plug will have same results. keeps switching from mono to stereo making the sound stutter. why does the TV get to decide on its own? who thought of that? is there a setting to choose for it so it doesnt have to bother?

Usually the settings can't be turned off and the audio settings are searching for whatever is being outputted from the program itself whether mono or stereo. It is nuisance I know.

If your TV is connected to a Comcast cable box that has a volume control on it with its on screen volume at the top of the picture. Turn it up until the word "stereo" appears and then only use the TV's volume control. This should fix the problem and allow you to enjoy stereo audio.

The mono/stereo is an indicator of the audio signal that the TV is outputing. Like most car radios, they have an indicator that tells you when a station in coming in clear, which may be just an LED or a light. When the signal is weak or when your on a non-stereo station the indicator will not be on. What signal are you providing to the TV? Cable, OTA, STB output??? low RF signal level could be the cause for this.

I have a 32" Initial which is an ILO with a name change. All I can do is turn it on and off. The volume and menu settings will not work. I have had it for about two months and now I am going to take it back to WalMart. The picture quality is great but it sucks that I can't change the volume or settings. I guess Sony will get my business now.
