When i connect my TV to my HD cable receiver with the HDMI lead i only get sound, no picture. The cable box has been changed 3 times so i can only conclude there is a problem with the TV. The cable reciever and the TV have been set up correctly by the cable company. The tv does work with the composite connections. How do i fix the problem or acertain where the problem is. Hit
I am not sure what your problem might be, I have figured out mine though and this is a good answer for a lot of people in the future.
My problem was that my receiver is HDMI 1.3 compatable, however the newer Mitsubishi TV was 1.3a for HDMI. There is no way around this even though I was able to trick my old receiver and TV into connecting, whenever I turned it off the problem came back. I just bought an Onkyo SR805 which is 1.3a version of HDMI, and the TV receiver combo work fine now.
You might have to read your manuals carefully to make sure they are exactly using the same specs. Also, I bought a $30. HDMI cable, and I got the same picture as one that cost $120.00. It is more being the right version than who made the cable.
My plasma TV seems to have problems with picture immediately after turning on. At about two weeks ago, the TV lost picture after turning on the TV. It was corrected by disconnecting power then reconnecting. A switch on rear left hand side would click bringing picture ON, somehow this clicking seems to have problems being energized lately not allowing picture to come on the TV. Checked power cable and was getting 120 Volts to TV, nonetheless problem has gotten worst and TV does not show a picture? Your thoughts on my problem?
IF you are saying that every thing is connected properly check your video cable it could be bad use a new one if that does not rectify your problem it is time to call in the tech you could be having problem in your video circuit but you did not mention if the screen light up with no picture but with sound or it does not light up blank with sound.however there could be two things 1 if the screen lightup with normal sound it could be a leaky ,open, or shorted, transistor or ic in the IF circuit.2 If the screen does not light up and has normal sound it could be a defective horizontal stage.so it is time you take the set to a tech for repairs.good luck.

I have a mitsubishi 73" rear projection I just bought and an Onkyo surround receiver. I cannot get the picture to work with the HDMI cable, I get sound though. I Have checked out that the receiver can work this way with another TV. I connect Cable box to in1 and TV to HDMI out on receiver. I sometimes get an error message from the TV that states "HDMI switching through AV receiver is not supported."
I can sometimes "trick" the TV into working correctly, but when I turn the TV off and back on it won't work again. The TV is brand new so I see no reason for this not working with HDMI, and I know the receiver works correctly. Is there any way to "fix" this problem?
I was watching TV tonight and the picture went and I can change channels and get sound but I cannot get any picture. What could the problem be.
